She pulled away breathlessly after a moment, looking surprised at first. Surprise quickly shifted to embarrassment. "Sorry." * * * He took a quick bite, chewing thoughtfully. "...yep. I was right."
He tilted his head, a little surprised himself. "Why are you sorry?" *** She squinted at him. "Hush."
"That... was too much," she said, sitting up and going to turn out the light. "Too much too quick." * * * "Nope! I have a huge crush on a culinary goddess."
She turned out the light and returned to the bed, getting in on her side quickly. * * * "Yes!" he replied, offering her the plate.
She was lying on her back too, staring up at the ceiling. “...this is so weird.” *** “And I took a bite. Your turn.”
He looked over at her, maybe a little self conscious. "It is?' *** She huffed, sitting up to take a bite.
“Yeah. I mean, I love you. Right? You know I love you. But maybe not in the ‘I want you’ kind of way.” She sat up, running her hands through her hair irritatedly. “But also, completely separate from the platonic love you and I have, I also do want you. It’s a new thing.” *** He kissed her temple. “That’s my girl.”
She huffed, crossing her arms. "You're cute. That's my issue." * * * He took another bite, ruffling her hair gently.
"Do you realize why it's an issue, though?" she asked, looking over at him. "You're you! You're my best friend! It feels weird to be attracted to you!" * * * "Did you sleep well?" he asked conversationally, offering her the food.
She laughed sheepishly, looking over at him. "Do you?" * * * He stretched before trying to stand up shakily, bracing himself on the edge of the bed.
She huffed, raising one eyebrow. "It's like... it feels weird." * * * He muttered before standing, swaying dangerously.
