He finished up, bringing the plate back to the sink. *** She gave him a small smile. "I'm glad you're here."
She took the plate from him, going to clean up. *** Hr laughed slightly, leaning over to kiss her forehead. “I’m glad I am too.”
“No, I got it,” she protested, looking up at him. *** He ruffled her hair gently before settling back on his side, closing his eyes.
He sighed, stepping back with a frown. "Okay." *** She scooted a little closer before trying to fall asleep.
He looked out the window with a small frown. "Looks like the storm is letting up." *** She relaxed, reaching out and taking his hand.
She looked up, going over to the window. "Really?" * * * He stirred, his eyes fluttering open. "...hmm?"
He nodded, pointing at the slowly dissipating clouds. *** She was watching him quietly. "I didn't mean to wake you.."
She visibly brightened, slipping an arm around his waist. "Good." * * * He laughed sleepily, stretching. "I'm a light sleeper."
He looked down at her with a small smile. "Then we can help rebuild." *** She gave him a smile. "Sorry."
"And we can get the house back again," she mused, looking up at him. * ** "Don't be," he replied. "Now I'm awake with you."
She grinned up at him, resting her head on his chest. "Just like old times...?" * * * "How'd you sleep?"
