"We leave in three hours. Midnight, to be exact. These two can leave now." Bloodwing responded. "Go, Rose. Teach the bloodling how to hunt."
"Very well, Elder. I will do my best." Rosy turned to Narrowleaf. "Follow me, young one. We are going to Ponyville. I have some... contacts... there."
Narrowleaf nodded. "A-Alright..." He mumbled. "L-L-Let's go, then. Can we make it quick, too...? I don't really wanna."
Rosy nodded. "Do not fear. This will not take long." She led Narrowleaf to an apple orchard on the outskirts of Ponyville. "Before we get started, tell me about yourself. How did you come to join our little family?"
"I was attacked and brought back. I-I'm just glad I didn't end up like those poor other ponies. Although, that's probably what would have happened..." He said. "What happened to you?"
"It was one hundred and eighty-seven years ago. There was a deadly flu pandemic sweeping through Equestria, killing hundreds. Even Celestia was unable to cure it. When I fell ill, my mother struck a deal with Elder Bloodwing... I never learned the details, but all that matters now is that I still live." Rosy paused. "Time for some practice, young one. Look, up ahead... an apple thief. This should be a good first hunt."
"C-Can we not do this? I'd rather go on without doing this... It's awful. And cruel." Narrowleaf responded. "Can't we leave and say we did this? Let's go have some fun."
Rosy sighed heavily. "The first hunt is always the hardest, young Narrowleaf, but it is necessary. If you cannot learn to function as one of us, the Elder will order you terminated. To live, you must hunt. In time, you will learn to enjoy it."
Narrowleaf dropped to the ground, gasping quietly. He pulled Rosy down with him. "When I was dragged back to the house, that guy started chasing after us." He explained. "He doesn't like us. At all. He has wooden stakes and everything."
"Who? The apple thief?" Rosy grinned. "This is an opportunity for both of us, Narrowleaf. If we can take down a vampire hunter, the Elder will be pleased. We will both be well rewarded." She thought for a moment. "He knows you, but he does not know me. I have a plan, but I will need your help."
"W-With what? Can it involve hiding in the bushes? Pretty please?" Narrowleaf begged with a fake smile. "I-I'll give you candy."
Rosy glared at Narrowleaf. "I am two hundred years old. I do NOT eat candy. Treat me like a filly again, and you will reget it." She sighed. "You wish to hide in the bushes? Fine. Just be ready to strike when I signal you." She reached into her bag and pulled out a small bottle, which she gave to Narrowleaf. "This is a paralyzing agent. Apply it to your fangs, and it will render your prey helpless almost instantly. Are you ready to hunt the hunter?"
Narrowleaf nodded. "Yeah. Hunt him." He said. He hesitated to apply the potion to his fangs. "I-I guess I'm ready. I'll come with."
"Good. Hide here. When I signal you, strike. Do not hesitate." Rosy quickly circled around in front of the hunter, and called out to him. "Help! Please, sir, I need help!" She ran up to hunter, sobbing. "Y...you have to help me! Some scary ponies came and they... they took my mother! They had sharp teeth and they looked like v...vampires! Please... they went this way!" She ran in Narrowleaf's direction, with the hunter close behind. When they reached the hiding place, she stopped. "Thank you, mister. Nopony else believed me about the vamp... NARROWLEAF! NOW!"
Narrowleaf pounced on the vampire hunter, cackling madly. "I CAN SMELL YOU, WORM!" He cried, biting into the stallion's neck.
The hunter stiffened and fell to the ground as the poison took affect. Rosy looked at Narrowleaf curiously. "For one so reluctant to join our fold, you seemed to enjoy that a great deal." She looked down at the paralyzed hunter, whose eyes had widened with hatred and fear. "As for you, my dear, you should have realized that my kind would never leave a witness. You were a fool to trust me." After giving the hunter a good kick, she looked back up at Narrowleaf. "A hunter is a valuable prize. For a first hunt, it is unheard of. You have done well."
"I... I want m-more..." Narrowleaf whimpered, returing to his timid state of mind. "It's j-j-just so tasty, Rosy..."
"There will be plenty more. We have time time to continue your lesson, or, if you wish, we can return home." Rosy removed the special Hunter's Society amulet from around the hunter's neck and placed it around Narrowleaf's. "There... that will surely impress Elder Bloodwing."
Narrowleaf removed the amulet and place around Rosy's neck. "You keep it. You're the one who helped me. You deserves it more than me." He said, smiling. "Wh-Who cares about impressing Elder? I just want more b-blood..."
Rosy smiled. "Thank you. I will make sure that Elder knows that this was your kill. You are certain to be rewarded." She quickly hid the hunter under a pile of dead leaves and rotting apples. "Now that he has been dealt with, let us see about finding you more blood, shall we?"
