So, who else bought this masterpiece? This game is yet another reason to pledge loyalty to Sony and forever forsake your evil Microsoft overlords! Never before have I seen a game so realistic. (And i'm not just talking about the graphics!)
I haven't bought it but I have been following it for a while, watching the demos and what-not. Looks like a really cool game, I badly wish I could play it but I probably won't be buying it for a quite a while.
I did and it truly is a masterpiece. Love the environments, music, the gameplay, and how it has extreme violence but doesn't endorse it. But my only issue is Spoiler: Spoilers having the sneak past infected when they have those clicking jerks because I always end being spotted be at least one of those runners and then it's just try and kill the runners without using too much ammo and run from the clickers.
I'm going on vacation this week....6 days without having that game! I'm buying it the second I come back.
Maybe a little necroing here but this game has gotten to the top of my backlog pile (Damn you GOG!) and Naughty Dog have yet to disappoint me. Favourite bit of mine thus far is just after arriving in Pittsburgh and, whilst scrounging around the bus, Ellie starts reading from a joke book. Its just, so, human. Good writing can be done in game! I do agree with Yahtzee though over how bloody annoying the Clickers are. A (nearly always) insta-kill enemy in a predominately stealth based game is just graaaaaaaaaah!
I haven't bought it. I watched a Let's Play of it, because I don't have a PS3, which is the only system it's on. Man, it was basically watching a movie. Such the amazing story, great combat, creepy zombies, and, oh, those feels! I swear, a bit more and I could have been crying, on top of my shock at the graphic scenes. And I could take all this is from simply watching another person play it.
I must have missed these feels because I can only thing of one time where I really had a feeling towards something in game and that involved Bill and a note. Clickers are only one hit kills because its the only way to really fear them. That's all they have, if that was gone they'd be just like any normal infected. Below is a semi spoiler. Not to the game really, just something I thought would happen that they didn't do Spoiler: spoiler So you met henry and Sam, you get in the sewer and come into that old little sewer living place. Then you come across that school area. There should have been some kind of child infected. That would have been a wonderful thing. I think it would have made a great cut scene. Especially if Joel had trouble killing it. Would make a later scene a little Bette involving Sam and Henry. You know the one.
Fair enough point about the Clickers. Doesn't make them any less annoying though. The reason there are no infected children, cutscene or otherwise, is the same as why the Skyrim kids are invincible little gods. Any game, regardless of content or context, that allowed the player to cause the deaths of children or even child-like creatures would be utterly crucified in the media. Any game with a budget these days plays it safe enough as is. None of them would take the risk of mass negative backlash this would inevitably cause.
True. However, she was merely shot by a soldier that wasn't the player in a cutscene. The player didn't pull the trigger or make the decision to kill her. That's what I was getting at. OT: Just replaced Clickers with Hunters as my most annoying enemy. Bullets hurt, man!
I count at least 2 kids being killed in this game. I also said to make it a cut scene for that very reason.
Spoiler: Spoilers about the violence against kids that is contained later in the game Actually, there's a section of the game where play as Ellie, and they give her the same amount of gore and violence as they do towards Joel.
