"Hmm...So you're smarter than you look. Most ponies wouldn't have realised that the magic dismissal aura of the palace dosen't extend out here. Well done." A panel opens up in the ceiling, a staircase rising from the floor to allow access to the opening. As your group ventures up you find yourselves faced with the three doors he had spoken of earlier. One is a green door, with the emblem of a tree upon it. Another is red, with a heart emblem upon it, and the last is blue, with a teardrop emblem on it. "One minute left..."
Tekkie looked at the doors and frowned "A core is like a heart to a machine.." he muttered, then looked around the room ((sorry about the short post I don't really have that much to say in response to that, but I'll edit it if I think of something)
"Candle see if you can still use magic and try to see what is behind thise doors using it some how!" i said whilst panicking. Candle lowered her head and some light came out of her horn but that is all that happended. "Its not working," squealed Candle,"I cant do anything to help us know what is on the other side." "Anyone got any other ideas," i asked openly, "Gears do you have anything in that labryinth of pockets that might help us?" i inquired. "Not waiting for a respose i went and looked at the door and stood next to Tekkie who was closely examining the doors. "Though here on this floor, just dust and decay. To reveal your path, make it shine like day. Upon the next floor, there are doors three not four. One for freedom, two will make you no more. To pass the test, you must find the core. Of a heart that has never been touched before." I pondered the meaning of the las to lines as they meant to most in this situation assuming we are at the end of the riddle. "hmm... To pass the test, you must find the core. Of a heart that has never been touched before." I recited to Tekkie. "find the core of a that that has not been touched before," i pondered what to do and had nothing so decided to see if gears had any idea. ((had to do some major editing cos cabe was unhappy XD))
Gears "That can't have been right... it's too literal. Unless it's a double bluff, it has to be a trick. Tree's also have a sort of heart, a more dense type of wood near the centre of the tree; also, a raindrop can mean a tear, and by extension the feelings that make up the metaphysical entity we refer to as 'the heart'. Any one of those doors technically could have been right. Feelings, being a non-physical object, can't be touched in any physical sense, only in an emotional sense. Are you sure we picked the right door?" A danger that's plainly seen is infinitely preferable to one that remains hidden. "What if this is just a room full of traps?" He feels around the door behind them, finding no handle.
"Gears which door do your think we should take i have no idea and as i just heard any of them could technically be right according to your ideas and i heard just them," i said to Gears, "i vote we go with the literal meaning that would be our best bet right now and anyways even if we get the door wrong there must be some way we could survive." ((arg not having much to work with is annoying and no one is willing to acctually open a door at the moment so this could get long and drawn out))
Tekkie blinked for a minute "what if the smallest one of us opens the door from the side and the others stand away from it?" he asked quietly, debating over whether or not just to kick one door open and hope for the best, Tekkie walked over to the door with a tree on it and pressed his ear against it waiting for any sort of clicks or ticks that could show sign of machinery , he couldn't hear anything so he pressed himself up against the wall and sighed quietly "if this thing cuts my head off I'll kill you." he muttered, pressing his hoof against the door and pushed it open, yanking his hoof away quickly.
((Lol, Cedeus. I posted before your edit, so I was reacting to us having already entered the the Heart room after the water and beasts came to get us. Should I also adjust my post, Caberea?)) Gears "Grr! If we had more time I could've had them all scouted, but time is of the essence. Everypony, let's just go through them one by one. The green kid, get clear of that door!" Everypony just barely gets out of direct line of sight in time as Gears turns and bucks the Tree door, rolling slightly to the side as he does so. With a strong wing-beat at the moment of impact, he pushes himself clear of the doorway as the door falls out into the room ahead, pressing himself against the wall. After a second, he glances inside briefly. Midnight "What's in there?" ((Sorry for controlling you two.))
((Nea problem)) Tekkie peered into the room and looked around "Somebody got a light?" he asked as he placed a hoof inside the room slowly, taking note of the floors texture and tapping it two times "It's not a pressure plate or anything along those lines, so I imagine this room's safe, but I wouldn't count on it, try the other one" Tekkie muttered, slowly backing up out of the room.
((So? Caberea?)) ((Edit: Everytime I post to remind him, it is the 10th post and he does not get to see it... *Sigh*))
A mysterious pony (Brave Cape) steps out of the shadows of the room, "There's no point trying the other's, all of the room's are both right and wrong, none of them lead to freedom. The riddle is made to occupy you until Solace can hunt you down." Solace's voice echoed across the area. "What!? How are you still alive in there, you should have been dead ages ago." Brave Cape stepped into visibility and showed that, even though the room had not succeeded in killing him, it had certainly taken it's toll. His wings were a mess and looked so badly damaged it was unlikely they would ever work again without some serious medical attention. His horn was cut, almost in two, and numerous area's on his body were still scarred. "We need to break through the ceiling here, It's our only hope for escape." "But how will you do that once I've killed you?" Everypony turned to see Solace walking calmly out of the cellar. "Though I'm surprised you survived my traps, Brave, you still didn't figure out my little riddle, nopony has. The answer is death, when all you know is dead, how can a heart be touched? Which, I'm mildly sad to say, is what's going to happen to you. Prepare to die Everypony, times up!"
Tekkie looked at the other two rooms and raised an eye brow, he smirked and opened the tear one, slowly creeping inside of it to avoid setting off the traps, slowly making his way around the room and carefuly, he sat down at the opposite end of the room and whistled, placing his hoof above a stone, smirking.
((Yay. Gears, I hope you don't mind if I use your roleplaying method. I prefer that over my old one, similar to Caberea's. It's simple and effective . And Caberea, does all of that have any relation with the "Three, not four" part of the riddle, or you just did it to rhyme?)) He then turns to Candle, and whispers a plan onto his ears. The unicorn nodded. He comes forward and points one of his hooves at Solace. Brave "I didn't survive for naught. I did have the strenght to face you, but no more. You're so weak you had to seize me with a dozen of your companions, and didn't even have the guts to execute me. And what's worst: you're a pegasus that doesn't know how to fly! So instead you just crawl in this place. I pity you, Solace." Solace "Why, how dare you, you little filthy alicorn!" The leader of the Sol Assassins charged at them, but then... Brave "Now!" Candle's horn glowed, while Brave's merely sparkled; and the ceiling above them trembled. An instant later, it fell, Solace stuck below the debris. Solace "I'll get you for that, Brave Cape!" Brave "Quickly, up! That should distract him for a little while, but do not underestimate him! And I'm going to need some help..." ((I do feel like I've done something wrong. Caberea, if anything just tell me to edit what must be edited and I'll do it. There's been some time since my last RPing (Endless Battles doesn't count, I guess. Way too different.) )) Edit: ((Tekkie has hurt his hand, that's why he didn't post/edit anything. And I'm going to be offline for 2 or 3 days, sorry... It was unexpected make me fall unconscious from exhaustion or something))
((I think you're getting that feeling because magic is dampened within the palace. However, since you're an alicorn, you might possibly be able to bypass the aura(?) If so, you could say that you used Candle's power for your own spell.)) ((The style I use is one that's built into another forum I visit. It's just a little easier to read than a wall of text.)) Solace is struggling to get up from under the debris. Gears stamps down on a chunk of beam, stopping him from rising. Gears I could cut open his throat right now; send Aether a message... No. He's better alive. He leans in close. Gears "Normally you assassins don't play around. I assume Aether Flywheel encouraged you to do this; to give us some small chance to escape? I understand that she still holds an advisory standing in your... organisation. Well, you tell her this from her son: she is not my mother any more; I don't need her help; and she had better not underestimate the Lunar Republic." He flies back to the group.
((due to my late response this is what i do during the fight... not much)) The second i saw Solace walk in the room i fear he might recognize me and instinct sets in and i shroud my self in a mist and do my best not to be noticed. I watch the fight from my protective shound as Bravecape and Candle bring down the roof on him. I leave me shround and run over to The two ponies and embrace them in a hug with tears falling down my face that we may acctually surive this ordeal somewat intact. In my sudden burst of energy and emotion I somewat accedintly create a stunning rainbow that shone down on us and for the first time in eight years I smiled a genuine smile. ((So emotional))
Tekkie stepped out of the room and looked at the rubble, he picked some of it up and threw it inside of the room he just came out of and repeated this a few times until it set off the trap, he did this for all three doors and looked at the others "Just to make sure they don't try that again" he muttered, tapping his hoof on the ground Tekkie then looked up "how am I gonna get up there?" he questioned, then shook his head he'd let Gears figure that out.
((Sorry I was away for a while.)) Gears flies through the hole in the ceiling to see what's outside. ((Sorry it's such a short post, too.))
"what can you see up there Gears," I called after him whilst following him up on a cloud using pure adreniline to maintain it. ((It takes a lot of effort to maintain weather that is being used or moved hence why i couldn't do it before and it wont last long)) ((once again a short reply we'll see what cabe has in store for us now))
Gears sees the strain and lifts her gently, using his unusually long legs to hook under her at both ends of the barrel without touching the hurt wing. ((I always thought the flanks were on the sides, not the rump (because of its military meaning). So why do bronies always seem to use it as a synonym for "rear end"? Is it because of the superficial phonetic similarity with "ass"? Or because "rump" doesn't sound quite as nice?))
By using the debris, Brave Cape jumps his way through the hole. It wasn't hard for him; after all, Solace made him go through much worse than that. He tries to remember the map of the dungeons and build a plan on his mind, until he emerges through the roof. Brave "Woah. What in..." ((Actually, Solace said himself that magic worked down there. Any capable pony can work his magic here. I don't know if after going up we're still outside the barrier or not. That means you can use your necklace now Gears, if I'm not mistaken. So can Candle, and propably Luna's unicorns can detect us now and go for the rescue :derpe:. Solace seems to be even clumsier than he looks like, to allow such a breach in his security only to make amends with a false riddle.))
