"Well, if nobody's home then I see no reason against finding a way inside. It will be warmer and safer in the house then the barn."
Nova picked up the flowerpot and found the key. She quickly opened the door and stepped inside. "Leave your carts outside. Static will take first watch." Static nodded, and carefully pulled a large silver sword from underneath his sleeping son. "We should let him rest. He'll be fine out here with me." (As soon as I get a chance, I'll need to create a new Earth Pony. We only had one, and she's gone now.)
(Oh wow, I completely forgot that my characters name isn't dark blaze, it's dark blitz, time to edit some posts lol!) Dark Blitz had waken up his sister, telling her to go inside. He brought the carriage inside the barn and walked into the house, he was exhausted.
Swipes walked in, and took out some bowls and spoons from her back. "I got some oats, if anyone wants them." She said, pouring herself some.
Steel walked into the cottage and opened his saddle bag. He took out a bag of trail mix and poured it into his own bowl. "No thanks, I have my own" He sat down on an old wooden chair in the corner of the room and began to eat his food.
Nova, who had eaten earlier, took a look around the cottage. The building was in terrible condition, and she could see the night sky through the holes in the roof. She doubted that the cottage would last long against the predators of the Everfree. After checking the structure, and searching for supplies, she returned to the group. "There's enough food for a week, provided the cottage lasts that long. There's one bed, and it's going to Dark Shine. No arguments. The adults can sleep on the floor. There are no medical supplies of any kind, and there's only enough water for tonight. Our biggest problem, however, is the fact that there our Earth Pony host is gone. I've read the basics of farming, but everypony knows that only Earth Ponies can raise crops properly." She sighed. "I'll send a letter to Chancellor Puddinghead tomorrow... thank Faust we've got a Dragon with us... and ask her to send somepony new."
Blitz sat next to Shine while she slept, making sure nopony got her. He held responsibility over, since she was the only family he really had, "I hope we can get an Earth pony soon, don't wanna be stuck with nothing but Unicorns and other Pegisi, it would seem really off balance in my opinion."
Nova nodded. "This project is just as important to Chancellor Puddinghead as it is to the the others. There will be an Earth Pony here by tomorrow night, you can be sure of that. For now, though, I suppose it's time to stake our claims." Laying her map of the area on the table, she pointed to a hilly area at the edge of the forest. "There's a small network of caves in this area, with plenty of iron ore. Static and I intend to build our home there, and begin mining as soon as possible. The closest village is too far away to rely on for supplies, so we'll need to have the ability to repair tools and farm implements. To that end, we intend to have a forge operational within two weeks."
(OOC: Is there anyway we could get a picture of said map and our current location?) "We should also build a road when we have a chance to the closest city. Worst case scenario, we need supplies it will take less time for them to get to us. Also how do we plan to get to this location?"
(I'll see if can throw something together soon. For now, just remember that they are in the area that would eventually become Ponyville. Of course, that implies that their settlement will eventually vanish without a trace, but let's just ignore that.) Nova grinned. "You've got hooves, don't you? We're all going to be doing a lot of walking in the next few months." She stared at the map, deep in thought. "You are right, though. We'll need roads to make things easier. Unfortunately, we don't have the time or resources for anything more than simple dirt paths."
"We could probobly use some stone from that mine you were talking about to build the road. Unless we want to use that primarily for buildings."
Nova shook her head. "Taking enough stone for building from an underground mine would cause a cave-in. It might be wiser to just dig a quarry." She sighed. "Of course, that will take time, and more ponies than we have with us. We'll just need to hope more come." (To make things easier, I'm going to add some NPCs as soon as the group starts building.)
"Do we know of any bodies of water near by. That will be greatly important to this town. Without water we have no chance. We may have to dig a well then. This is turning out to be a much larger task then I first anticipated." Armoured Steel sighed. "Well at least we are helping this land of ours become a better place to live for generations to come."
Nova nodded. "There's a river nearby, and a number of ponds. We should be fine as far as water is concerned." She was momentarily distracted by growling from outside, but it was ended abruptly by the sound of a sword strike. She grinned. Static had obviously just encountered one of the Everfree's many monstrous creatures. Whatever it was, she almost felt sorry for it.
Steel heard the murder of the creature outside the house. "Wow, that dragon of yours sure knows how to hold his own. He'll be be good backup for me in any encounter. What's his name? As a matter of fact I don't know your name either? Let me start off my name is Armoured Steel," he stated holding out his hoof for a hoof shake. (OOC: I'm out for the night, I'll be on tomorrow morning and evening seeya)
The silhouette of the giant stallion pulling his cart appeared against the dark of the evening, the wide brim hat and the long coat flapping against the breeze. A light rain started trickling from the skies, as the massive earth-pony slowly made his way towards the small farm. The stallions weary dark green eyes looked upon the cottage and barn, and only a small smirk could come to his usually expressionless face as it reminded him of good childhood memories. The coffins, farming equipment, logging equipment, shovels, and sacks of food trembled from the small bumps of the ground that Jeremiah trudged upon.
Nova shook Steel's hoof. "I'm Nova. My husband is called Static. It is nice to..." She was interrupted by a sudden knock at the window. "Somepony is coming.It might be best that he is greeted by one of you, rather than a Dragon." Nova shrugged and walked outside. She quickly spotted the newcomer, and went to greet him. "An Earth Pony? Did the Council send you? I hadn't even written the letter yet, I wonder how they knew that we would need you? Anyway, we can worry about that later. It's dangerous out here at night. Let's get inside."
Paragon was busy on his own. Standing by his planning desk churning out blueprints of important town structures. He was currently on his third one which was designs for a trade outpost. He sketched down every last detail from the wood texture to the nails and more. Which would mean that to complete it it would take him at least another 2-3 hours but those hours would be worth it when it would produce a highly detailed and easy to follow plan. Meanwhile Shielded was trying to get too sleep though the constant scribbling from Paragons quill and the dim light of the candle on his desk made it almost impossible to do so. So she simply create a small bubble shield around her with her horn to block out the light and noise.
Dark Blitz made sure his inventory was safe, and it was. He began looking at things, ranging from letters, to quilts, to building supplies, to food and water, and then to an old sword he kept for safety. He was paranoid about his own safety, but not as much as his sisters. Blitz was always on the ball, didn't care what anypony thought of him. He was always use to building, it wash;t his talent, but he was pretty damn good about it.
At the sight of the Earth Pony, Steel winced a little bit. He knew that coming on this adventure would involve dealing with the other races, but so far no Earth Ponies had shown up and this pleased him. Unicorns were one thing, at least you could have an intelligent conversation with them even if they were really snobby. Earth Ponies on the other hand were dumb as rocks and sloppy, always rolling in dirt. Steel tried to ignor the newcomer by looking back at the map.
