Nova returned to the cottage carrying a large bale of hay and a few heavy blankets. Within fifteen minutes, she had managed to turn a few of the coffins into comfortable-looking beds. Her task complete, she lay down in one and quickly fell asleep. Static, not comfortable around ponies that he didn't know, kept his distance from Jeremiah and Blitz. Silver and the pup were asleep, and he didn't sense any threats nearby, so he decided to deal with the Manticore's body. The hide would be useful for leather, so he started by carefully skinning the beast.
Steel fell asleep in his chair wrapped in the comforting blanket. (OOC: I'm not gonna post until this RP reaches the next morning)
-THE NEXT MORNING- Nova was awakened by the sounds of laughter and barking coming from outside. Yawning, she climbed out of her macabre makeshift bed and headed outside. Silver was playing fetch with his new Timber-Wolf friend, and completely ignored his mother's presence. Static was standing next to their cart, carefully scraping the Minotaur hide. The carcass of the creature lay on a table, ready for butchering. Nova approached and opened her mouth to speak, but before she could say anything, Static pointed to small glass bottle filled with a clear fluid. "I have already extracted the venom from the stinger. That is what remains after treating your arrows." "Thank you. It goes bad quickly, so I thought I might have missed my chance. How's Silver? I see that monster of his hasn't run off yet." She sighed. "I don't like the idea of my colt being so close to a creature from that forest." Static looked at her curiously. "Have you forgotten that he was conceived, and born, in the Everfree? He is a creature from that forest."
The next morning Shielded headed out to survey the area and see how far she needed to set up barricades that would drop the amount of magic she churned out drastically. While she did this Paragon approached Static and nova with the 4 blueprints he worked on over night. "Morning, I've produced these blueprints for important structures last night. They are a saw mill, a water mill, a trade outpost and of course walls/barricades. So what do you think."
Nova glanced at the blueprints, quickly realized that she couldn't make heads nor tails of them, and sheepishly passed them to Static. The Dragon studied them carefully, and nodded. "The sawmill design is excellent. The backshot wheel will be more difficult to build, but the increased efficiency will be worth the trouble. The door of the trade outpost should be wider and taller, to accommodate hovering Pegasi, and I would suggest a larger basement and separate root cellar. You might also consider an icehouse. As for the walls and barricades..." He shook his head in amusement. "I suppose some simple barricades couldn't hurt, but I don't think a wall would stop a Hydra or an Ursa."
Steel awoke from his slumber. He looked out the window and saw the sun had already dawned, he assumed it was around 9 O'Clock. He got up from his chair and immediately realized that sleeping in the chair probably wasn't such a great idea. "Oh man! My back hurts like the Dickens!" he cried out.
The man had merely looked around from the middle of the field the entire night, not sleeping one bit. As the sun rose up, he trotted over to the shade, squinting his eyes but waiting for the clouds to roll in to darken the area for his light-sensitive eyes.
Swipes woke up, and stretched. "Hey guys, I'm going to go out into the forest to survey the area, could someone tag along with me?" She asked, taking out her maps and pencils.
Blitz only had three hours of sleep, it was enough to get him to trot around. He heard somepony ask for assistance, "Yeah, I guess I will." He was already wide awake, looking around seeing what there were to do while the others had slept. Dark Blitz finally met his companion, the same pony whom bumped into him before. He wasn't thrilled, but he was bored, "Besides, I need something to do."
Swipes walked trotted into the forest with Dark Blitz. Trying to strike up conversation, she asked, "So, how do you like the settlement so far?"
Nova decided to go inside and write a letter to Princess Platinum asking for more ponies to be sent. When she was done, she attached one of the special seals that she had been given, and brought it out to Static. She had no idea how burning the letter with Dragon fire would get it to the Council, but she knew better than to question magic. With her first task of the day done, she grabbed her bow and headed for the river. It was not uncommon for Cragadiles to lurk in waters near the Everfree. She needed to make sure that it would be safe for the group to fill their water barrels.
To reply to the mares question, "Eh, its all right. There are certain ponies that need to be more interactive though. So what is your name again?"
"I'm Swipes! And it's Dark Blitz, correct?" Swipes said, as she jots down some paths through the forest. "Cute sister. She reminds me of myself when I was a filly!"
"Yeah," Blitz said not so sure about it, "My sister keeps to herself most of the time, she is only interactive when she needs something, but on the other hand she acts normal towards me." He looked at a large patch of blue and red flowers, seeing himself and his sister when they were younger playing in the fields. He shook off the memory as he walked along the path with… Swipes was her name?
"So, what were your reasons for volunteering? Personally, I wanted to prove my friends I wasn't the weak little unicorn they think I am."
"Then I guess that is somewhat a good reason. My reason was to come and explore with my sister, leave the old life in search for a new." Blitz said as he sighed, he needs to remember that he needs to not get too open.
Swipes' ears perked up. "Are you ok? You seem a little bit disgruntled-" Suddenly, a large bush rustled. "Hold on." She whispered. She pulled a crossbow out of her bag, and pointed it at the bush.
Steel looked around the cottage and it seemed to be empty. He really wanted to put himself to use so he went outside to see what there was to do. When he got outside he saw the only pony he has really interacted with walking away in the distance. Not wanting to be left with the dragon or the giant he called out, "Hey Nova, where are you going? Mind if I tag along!"
Nova glanced at the Pegasus, sizing him up. It might be a good idea to take somepony along, in case she ran into trouble. She nodded, and called back to him. "I'm going to scout the river! You are welcome to join me, if you want! Get a weapon and supplies for a half day and meet me at the bridge!"
Blitz noticed the bush moving as well, but didn't care for it much, "Poke it why don't you, it could be a Timberwolf cub," He said sarcastically. Dark Blitz wasn't afraid of nothing, if it were an Ursa, then he'd wrestle with it, if it were a Manticore, then he'd destroy it. He continued to look at Swipes then at the bush, "If you shoot an animal that is not going to attack you then that'll be cruelty."
