Violet lifted a hoof like she was going to follow before asking; "Did you want me to come along? Or should I keep watch here?" Either way, should she come or not, it wasn't far to the home with the giant hole in its second floor. None of the guards seemed concerned with it, but it didn't take a long investigation but entering inside to see the silver unicorn colt slumped against a wall that had a large crack in it, and a big gaping hole that looks like it was torn open from the inside by large claws.
Severed turned toward Violet and smiled wickedly. "You may come along if you wish. I, for one, would like to see you in action. Holding back Death itself is an exercise in futility, and I'd love to see how your spells hold up against Sandro's ever-tightening embrace." After merrily trotting to the building, the one that for all that she knew had the gigantic hole in it to begin with, she found the silver pony, slumped against the wall. She next noticed the giant hole nearby and put two and two together: "Sandro give him rest. He is gone. Slain by the same creature that made this giant hole, no doubt." She approached the pony and gently placed a hoof on his chest. "We hardly knew ye, and now your soul resides with Sandro in the afterlife." "You lucky bastard..." She then leaned down and whispered the few words of a prayer in his ear.
(Un)Fortunately, Severed notices something strange. Why... this corpse is breathing! The feeling of his chest rising and falling against her hoof was enough proof. Violet noticed it from her disposition and trotted off to go catch Heartburn and notify her of the wounded pony in the building!
Severed drew back in surprise. This corpse was breathing! Before she could do anything, Violet rushed away, likely to retrieve Heartburn. She simply sighed. "It seems you are not wanted by Sandro, either..." She knelt down by the former corpse. While keeping an eye on the doorway, she spoke softly. "Worry not, if you wish to not Awaken just yet. My companions will be by shortly. They are Healers both. They will make short work of your wounds." IN the meantime, she withdrew her PDA and began writing: O Sandro, Truly, You must find me unworthy to reject my offerings, not once, but twice. Please tell me what I have done wrong, so that I might be in Your favor once more. Is it my companions? The Healers? The ones who would deign to snatch souls that would rightfully be Yours from your very grasp? It was not my choice to be paired with them! It is not my fault! I am not the one to blame! Don’t reject me for their indiscretions! I am sorry, Great Sandro. I am making excuses. Please forgive me. Your Servant is still young and foolish. Please find me worthy of your glory. She frowned, knowing that her words might be falling on deaf ears. She put the PDA away and glanced back at the wounded pony, who she noticed was still breathing. ”What is it like? To straddle the border of life and death? Is it cold as they say? They say that there lies a bright light at the end of a long tunnel. Are you going towards it, or further away? Are you happy or sad?” She then sighed. ”You can’t hear me…”
Silver, in a semi-conscious, semi-delirious state, felt the hoof pressing against his chest. It hurt, but so did everything else. It also hurt to complain, so he didn't. He lay there, taking in the words of the pony who had suddenly appeared next to him, and decided that this pony was nice. Nothing she said really made sense to him, since he really wasn't in the mood to try and understand it, but she was whispering things and...and...stuff. He failed to come to a logical conclusion based on facts, and settled for thinking that she seemed nice.
Heartburn was examining the giant hole from the outside. These creatures certainly are destructive, she mused. She upturned her head as Violet came charging out of the building about the body inside. "Severed, I swear to Sandro if you do anything to him!" Heartburn jumped into the building and looked around before spotting the two forms. I swear to Sandro? She must be rubbing off on me... Heartburn trotted up to Silver and bent over to look him over. "Ah, badly hurt but nothing I can't fix!" Bending her head so that her horn rested just over Silver's body, she began casting a healing spell; just enough to get him on his hooves.
Heartburn's spell successfully heals Silver of enough health for him to get out of his haze and back with the rest of the ponies. Violet bounds back in and trots over to the hole. "Oooh, I do get a fairly good view of the city from here. Looks like things have calmed down all over."
Silver shivered and slowly awoke from his slumber. He opened his eyes and looked around him, and his face took on a look of disgust. "My word, what a mess!" He stumbled to his feet and his horn glowed. He winced at the use of the magic which has so recently backlashed on him, but nevertheless began to clean the room immediately. He paused for a moment, and looked back at the two ponies that had been standing over him. "Oh, and, um...thank you. ...um. A lot." He wasn't sure which pony had healed him, so he spoke to them both. He then turned away and started to clean once more, taking several glances over his shoulder at the two mares as he worked.
Severed stared as the silver pony immediately started cleaning his room after being revived. She blinked a couple of times before his thanks resonated. "No...Um..." She continued to stare as she spoke. "I did nothing to help..." Not finding anything else to say, she very suddenly distracted herself with Violet's observation. She trotted over to join her assistant at the window. "So it is..." She wondered for a moment, then turned toward Violet. "I'm going to talk to the Diamond Dogs about what happened earlier during the attack. The insects had no reason to run away. Our forces were at a stalemate. Something...bugs...me about it..." "Come with me, if you wish. Or, you may stay with Heartburn and...I'm sorry, I don't believe we were introduced, Mister...?"
"Silver." He smiled shortly at her, then glanced back at the messy room. "..." He stood for a moment, trying to decide which action had priority. "......I shall come with you. This can be finished later. I should like to find out what could so strongly compel such aggressive creatures to retreat from battle."
Severed bowed slightly. "Silver. That's appropriate. Very well. Let's go, then." She thought maybe she'd ask him if he remembered anything from his time unconscious. She smiled at the thought of talking with somepony who hung between life and death.
Violet bobs her head and trots over to Silver, grinning and flicking her mane. "Well hey there! I'm Violet Ray, assigned assistant to these two other mares." Then she gets up in his face and narrows her eyes. "So I'm keeping my eyes on you... buddy..."
Silver shrank back a bit as his integrity was implicitly insulted by the pink pony. "I beg your pardon!... Er... Violet...but I find it...um..." He blushed, and looked to the right, then the left. "That is to say...I wouldn't...I would never..." He shrank down even more and looked at his front hooves, the conversation having become too awkward for him to think of anything to say. "Er...I...uh..." His face had become rather pink.
She snickered and clapped Silver on the back. "Hah! You're not like the other colts. You're like, totally approved... probably." Then she turned and headed for the door.
Heartburn nodded at Silver as Violet trotted away. "I'm Heartburn, the one who revived you. We can make proper introductions later as it appears we're leaving." Heartburn turned to the door, but kept her head facing Silver. She whispered "Oh, and try not to get into any fights. You're not exactly in peak condition to be doing any strenuous activity." She winked at him and made her way to the door to join the other mares.
"Can we get this show on the road? The smell is driving me nuts." Mary complains. She had seen fit to stand outside as she had no interest in what they had arrived for but she'd caught the odd snippets of what was said as she waited. Sandro? Mary had made sure to remain willingly ignorant of religion. She'd found while wondering that she needed full focus on the task at hoof and on her surroundings. If she tried incorporating any deities into her life, she'd be dead from the distraction. Best to leave that to those that are living somewhere safe enough to still be alive to preach. She gives a quick glance towards Violet, summing her up. "Who's this? Although, I could say that about all of you."
Unsure what exactly Heartburn was trying to tell him by winking (probably just trying to get him to blush more...), Silver lingered behind the three mares a bit. Upon meeting Mary Sue, his first impression was not a good one, but Silver didn't believe in first impressions. Probably she was just in a bad mood; it's not like that was an unlikely answer, as bug-things had just invaded and tried to kill everypony. Mary didn't seem to notice him, however, so he stayed quiet. He preferred not to initiate conversation unless it was needed, and right now they had stuff to do. Except...he really had no idea where to go. So he just stood awkwardly, waiting for the four mares to either introduce him to Mary or get going somewhere important; preferably the second option.
"This," Heartburn gestured to Silver, "is our newest addition to the party. I suggest you treat him with respect, we don't know what he's capable of yet. That is, if you have any respect in you." She directed herself to Severed Heart. "Got any idea which direction the diamond dogs are from here? I wasn't planning on staying here long, so I didn't take a mental layout of the place."
