PLUS Chocolate rain... Yeah, obvious reference. I bet Tay is awesomely surpised now. Skip to 2:10 to hear that part.
Just watched it on Youtube. First of all, HOLY HAY THEY ACTUALLY MENTIONED LUNA. WHAT. Now, for a while I was also confused by Pinkie's hair not deflating, but then I thought about it. In this episode, Discord was using his magic to turn each of them into the opposite of their element. Why hasn't Pinkie's hair deflated? I like to think it's because there's some part of her--and the others who were...discorded?--fighting against his manipulations. If that's not it, then maybe it's because she's not feeling depressed like she did in Party of One, but angry. I know she got mad after a while in Party of One, but what made her hair deflate in the first place in that episode was sadness. We've seen her mad or upset before without her hair deflating. And yeah, I loved the "Oh well, I'm gonna' go enjoy the chocolate rain instead of worrying about any of this! DDD" moment. It's just so...Pinkie Pie, you know? I can't say Rainbow Dash leaving surprised me. Of course she'd want to save her home. Applejack surprised me a bit, as did Rarity. I love how Fluttershy was (unknowingly--she probably had no idea what he was trying to do) fighting Discord's manipulations, and he had to just get it over with magically. I wasn't surprised at all by Pinkie of course, we already knew she has some insecurities about her friends liking her or not. And even though she promised she wouldn't doubt her friends after Party of One, well, Discord's magic seems really powerful. None of them stood a chance at fighting his "disharmonious magic" as I am now calling it. As for Twilight, I wonder if he'll uh, "discordify" her, too. Maybe she could prove resistant to the disharmony magic? Or she'll teleport herself and her friends away from Discord next episode. I'm pretty sure she's going to have to find a way to fix them all, and I'm not sure how she's going to go about doing that. I mean, it'll probably involve magic of some sort, but what exactly is she going to do? And is Cloudsdale really crumbling? ...Did anyone see Derpy? I wasn't looking hard enough. D: ... Next week, Y U NO HURRY UP?

Okay, I've just finished watching it on YouTube (thank you Zephyr Wind for showing us all). That was literally all I could have asked for. It was stunning. Firstly, Canterlot was shown in much greater detail. During season 1, it was made out to be a grand and luxurious kingdom, but we were only left to imagine that, as we hardly saw much of it. I know there were only a few shots, but I feel it was expanded upon greater this time, even more so than the Grand Galloping Gala (somehow). Also, Celestia was badass, that has to be mentioned. Now, Discord. I fully mean it when I say he was an absolute marvel of a character., The writers did themselves proud with him. While 'goofy' looking, I feel he actually pertains a sinister demeanor, in a similar fashion that a clown can seem evil. I think he looks amazing, better than anything I could have imagined. His actions also just suit the character perfectly. His cruelly playful antics, his omnipresence, and his seemingly complete control over the situation really do go together in perfect harmony (coincidentally). The episode itself was brilliant. it does bring back memories of the first episode of season 1, what with each of the main character's traits being highlighted and subsequently tested. It's often hard to do that in a TV show without making it predictable and unimportant, but fair play to the writers they've pulled it off again. The ways in which Discord interacts with each character is interesting and unique, and it doesn't stray from the story line. The talking apple heaps, the laughing balloons, the imaginary diamond, they are all interesting devices used, and they do add to the creepy, mystical feel of this episode. There were also a few laugh out loud moments. Rarity's 'I know where you live', Fluttershy barging Pinkie Pie into a hedge and Discord's dance on Twilight's head all had me crease. Entertaining all round, really. As cruel as it was, it was the perfect place to end the episode. I can't wait for part 2, that's for sure. Also, I really want to draw Discord now. Seriously, I find his appearance really cool.
I really like discord. It makes me sad that we have to do away with him. :S I personally wish that they didn't have to rush all the events to where it wouldn't make sense, but then they'd finish the first episode without anything really have happened. I guess I'll have to be satisfied with it. I just hope they don't make a habit of this. XD
Aha! I thought I had seen her for a moment, but I wasn't sure. Agreed on all points. I was surprised by the nightmare fuel (the apple oracles and the balloons) in this episode. I was reminded of Nightmare Moon trying to stop/slow down the mane six in the second part of the pilot, it was also very different--not only were they all alone, but they failed spectacularly. So far Discord has been far more successful than Nightmare Moon. To be honest, I find him a lot more interesting, too. I kind of hope that, when he's defeated, he isn't gone for good. He'd make a great recurring villain. The ending was indeed a perfect ending to the episode, although it made me wish harder than ever it was next week already.
Okay so I just saw it and I had a smile on my face the whole time! I think I need to see a doctor cause this smile will not go away. That episode was totally brony orientated in a good way! I can now join the discussion without fear of spoilers!
You know what I would love to see, I would love to see Spike being the one who gets the Mane six back together. I mean, why not? He's around them more than anyone else so he knows in depth the friendship that the Mane six share. Though they don't care for HIM as much, I'm sure there's still some sort of connection between the Mane six and Spike. He would get back to the maze with Rainbow Dash back to normal, she would lose her wings again, and Spike would summon all the dragon fury in him to unleash a fiery green inferno that will burn a clear path through the maze. Or something like that. What do you guys think?
Just watched the episode on YouTube. (arght... 760p it took soooo long to buffer <hates his internet connection> : P) Ech... it was so awesome to see out ponies brought to life again and the episode was great! However I felt like the episode was too short and it forced a little bit of plot rushing. Well, anyway I love how they created Discord. He has sooooo awesome voice also his plotting and cunning personality makes him very interesting character. Ha! Fluttershy is invincible xD Even Discord wasn't able to suppress her kindness without magic xD
Yeah, the episode had to be rushed, due to it's 30 minute timeframe. If they had made it a two part 1-hour-each thing, then THAT would have been good. Someone could merge the two on YouTube.
I just wanted to say something. For some reason some still seem to think the Cutie Mark Crusaders' fight released Discord, even though Celestia explained it was because the Elements weren't bonded to the Princesses anymore. I just wanted that to be clear. I think the CMC's fight was simply foreshadowing. Anyway, TIME FOR SOME PICS AND GIFS.
