The swearing experiment.

Can't see anything wrong with this rule. Hopefully it will stick.

 

excessive swearing or using such words towards a member for the direct use as an insult are not tolerated. the use of the swear recreationally is fine.

For those that need an explanation:
Example 1allowed) "Oh s***"
Example 2not allowed) "go f*** yourself"
example 3not allowed) "god da** piece of sh** mother'hubbard' "

 

So by bypass do you mean just trying to swear or lets say, adding an extra letter to a word so the filter won't recognize it?

 

Actually, that's not ENTIRELY true. We've gotten on people about swearing before. I've suspended people for 24 hours because of it. Radio chat is usually where most of the cursing takes place, I don't see it very often in regular chat when I'm on

That's correct.

If you somehow write swearing in such a manner that the filter can not recognize it, but is still understandable, we will still remove it.

Isn't that the only reason there is to swear?

In any case, this rule sorta disappoints me, but I realize that for some reason, some people feel the need to swear and get upset when they are restricted from doing so.

Personally I don't mind this rule that much, but my opinions on swearing stay the same: It makes you sound dumber, whether you are or not. :/

 

Well I just have the feeling this won't end well as with Alexia I don't see a point in swearing although this whole experiment seems interesting

Saying the word is just a thing I do. Typing out the word is just dumb, it loses impact.

Only good thing is that I can post SFH songs.

 

This. When you talk in real life, it just comes out. When you're typing, you have more time to think about it.

Swearing to look cool is dumb. Swearing to quote someone or express something is completely different. As long as the filter is in place, everything should go swimmingly.
