It's come to my attention that during this swear experiment, several members have already used this privilege to insult or otherwise act agressively towards others. Keep in mind that swearing is ONLY allowed for casual and occasional use, and not for insulting others. If we see more of this behaviour, we will permanently revise the rules to disallow casual swearing. Please keep this in mind.
So it comes to my attention that the staff does not care for the experiment. i have already earned two infractions for swearing within their regulations. Ef the whole thing, It's not worth getting a ton of infraction for swearing, even though you were given the ok to. Infraction #1: Infraction #2: Yes... very lenient staff... Allow a swear filter but still yell at us for using such words...
Why is this even...? This is a PG, PG-13 site. Always has been. Swearing should not be allowed, just like posting gore and nudity are not allowed. Tell the people who whine about it to go to another forum. /thread
-_- have you even seen the point of this thread... oh what ever. BTW, I've been here since july 2011, and this has not always been pg-13, hell, foxy even swore back then, so did just about everyone else, it wasn't until ep became more famous that everyone on the staff decided that 5 year olds should have an experience here. as for you comment about going to another forum, i might just do that. As for the whole Swearing Argument going on, I never had a part of it from the beginning, i decided to come in because i thought that swearing should be allowed. i'm leaving this whole thing now. the staff still don't allow swearing... i don't want to make assumptions, but lying seems to be common.
It isn't being a rebel. It's intentionally being a jerk to the other users of this community and we won't allow it. Even if it is sarcastic. Frost has it right. If you don't like it, go to a different forum.
then ****ing end the whole experiment! obviously it isn't worth **** to you guys. or is it just me that will be moderated for such words.(i have the right to say this)
I did see "the point" of this thread. My opinion still stands. Swearing is not something that should be allowed on a public forum with a significant population. The meaning of any given post is far too easy to misinterpret over a text format as it is, and swearing makes you look unintelligent. It is not necessary for communication nor does it help you get your point across. On a smaller forum or an offbeat/underground forum swearing is usually fine, but not on a bigger, more mainstream forum, especially one with so many younger users. Words like "hell" or "damn" are fine, but anything more than that just isn't necessary. In my own personal opinion, I'm against censorship and I'm for freedom of speech, even swearing. But you have to consider where we are, and because of that I think swearing on this site is grossly inappropriate.
Your first warning was given because you bypassed the swear filter. It is mentioned in the OP of this thread that this is still against the rules. Your infraction was given because you insulted members and acted agressively, this has little to nothing to do with the swearing experiment in the first place.
I saw the tulpa thread. I saw what you and Go Rainbow Dash Go said to each other. You used the new rule to insult each other. The way you post with swearing looks silly. It makes this site less appealing to me and probably others. This is just my opinion on the matter, if the staff really wants to leave the swearing rule this way they can do so.
And actually, no you don't. As soon as you enter this site, believe it or not, you don't have any rights other than the ones stated in the rules. We obviously can't breach privacy and we can't harass you, but if you do anything wrong or say anything out of place that is meant to harm someone else/breaks the rules/intentionally abuse a system in place (Like you're doing now) -we- have the right to punish you and we do reserve the right to take away the rights you have on the forum besides those two main things. You may live in america, but the internet is different. Think of the First Amendment for a moment. It allows freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, all that jazz, right? Well yes, you're right. You do have the right to say what you want. But only if it is constructive, is not meant to harm others, or breaks any laws set in place. Advocating a crime, for example, is not protected by the first amendment because you are telling people to DO a crime, and you can be held responsible. The reason we did this experiment was to see how many people would intentionally abuse freebies and see how things would go. You are abusing your freebies by swearing on purpose on a forum that is designed to be PG-13. We may be allowing it, but only in casual manner. Your manner is derogatory and it is causing harm to the forum whether you see it or not. We do reserve the right to punish you according to the rules. You are subject to these rules, and the rights given to you are the ones you get, you are entitled to your opinion and you are encouraged to speak your mind, but you are not allowed to abuse a system that was set in place. That is abusing your 'rights' and therefore we can take that away via discipline.
i was never insulting anyone. any form of aggression is and will be false. the only time i have ever aggressively sworn or insulted someone else was at sunburn when he put me down and hurt a relationship between me and another pony. it's worse than it sounds. I have one request: since this whole experiment isn't obviously working, and swearing will be more moderated... REMOVE THE SWEAR FILTER. it does nothing useful if you aren't even going to allow swearing. - - Auto Merge - - actually no, i have the right to say that because of my history with the staff. I haven't been abusing the right. there was only one occasion and it was with the one post informing a user what is right and what is wrong. i find it funny that once swearing becomes involved, you automatically rate the site an R. i've seen PG-13 movies, tv-shows, etc, with more swearing than this one thread. (you as in the people against swearing)
Actually, you're wrong again, Sky. Your history doesn't give you special privileges, nor does it give you the ability to bypass or receive extra punishment. This is a privately owned forum. Whatever rights you have in your country or state or whatever do not apply here. If we deem what you say or do to be harmful to others of this community, we will act and take away your rights. Continue abusing the system and further disciplinary measures will be taken.
