Ebon let everypony going first, and ended the walk. He wanted to be sure to cover any embush possible: some creatures were intelligent, he knew that. "Do you know where you wanna set the first camp?", he shout. "D'you have it, i mean, on a map, so we could copy it at the entrance and write the current time, in case somponies wanna join us later?"
"So, Firebreeze, what kind of weather do you deal with exactly?" Winter said, hoping to spark up a conversation and also he knew that most creatures only attacked if you caught them by surprise, so making some noise was better than none.
"I don't really know, Ebon. We're just sort of throwing a dart in the darkness and hoping it hits something." Fire turned to Winter, "I deal with things like tornadoes and hurricanes that form in the everfree forest. One time I got to fight a 'Cloud Serpent'. I ended up exploding, and in the hospital, but it was pretty cool to save the day." He looked around the forest, it was dark everywhere, even though it was morning.
"Should we like light a torch, or does any unicorn here know how to cast a light spell?" Winter asked noticing how dark it was
"How lucky to had survived such a shot, Firebreeze. Where have you gotten hit? And don't worry for light. Just make sure i aint't near the trees and..." Suddenly, Fire wings appeared on Ebon's back, spitting ashes and flames in the sky, and lighting over the road. "Here, i'll just have to be carefull."
"You know what, I think I'll take care of it." Winter said extremely nervous. He concentrated and his horn was encased with a small yet bright flame. "Much better." Winter said to himself.
"hold on." Fire said to Winter as he closed his eyes and began to focus. Suddenly, his hair turned to a weak fire, bring some light to their surroundings. "Sorry that it's not much light, but it helps. I'm just learning how to do this without getting angry first." He then turned to Ebon, "man, my wings were broken and I was covered in burns and scars. In fact, I still have the one scar near my eye." he pointed at said scar.
"That's definatly what it felt like." Soon the group found a small lake in a treeless area. "This must be one of the lakes of fortune..." he said, "drinking it's water can have a good or bad effect, depending on the lake. I also heard the good effects are small things while the bad, well, are horrible. No pony drink this water."
Winter nodded, "Yes, I agree, something feels off about this water, it isn't like normal water at all." He walked up to the edge of the water and although sparks came out of his horn, nothing happened, "Eeyup, can't control it either."
"Wait, Winter, you said you were having healing abilities? I've got a lot of resistence to poison; lemme try the water, and if it turns to be wrong, Winter could heal me." Ebon approached and waited for Winter to come by before he taste the water.
Winter yelled, "NO! I can only use water to heal! And as I can't control that water, you would likely die!"
"Stay away from the water!" Fire said, getting in between Ebon and the water, "The first lake is said to be the deadliest!"
"Okay, if you insist. But i'll try to see if this water is okay anyway..." Ebon put his hoof in the water, and retired it: he observed the drops falling in the water. Then, he approached his water-soaked hoof to his head and scented the water. "It seems to be poisonnus. The temperature is high, it looks heavier than normal water, and it smells funny. You were right: i don't think i could've been okay after just a sip of this thing." He sighed. "Unfortunate for me, i was thirsty. I just hope my flask isn't near to be empty..."
Winter suddenly got an idea, "Lightbulb!" he walked to the middle of the clearing and slammed his hooves to the ground, at first nothing happened, then a small crack in the ground, and then a perfect circle formed in the ground that soon filled with water. "Groundwater, the one water source you can always count on!"
"I tought water was deeper than that. Thanks, Winter, i'll have something to fill my flask, and maybe some other jars in my saddlebag..." Ebon furiously searched in his bag, and put three jars out of it. They were made in thick glass, and the caps were in liege, like wine bottles. "Here, help me fill them up before that water stop spillin' out like that. Ebon started to fill his flask first, then one of the three jars. Both were filled completly.
Weather laughed, "That's acually deeper than you think. Anyways, as long as I am concentrating to keep the water coming out, it will flow." Weather grabbed the two jars and made two streams of water to fill them, after capping them he handed them to Ebon, "There you go, nice and full."
Firebreeze looked at the lake water while Ebon and Snow were dealing with the ground water. He saw something move around in the water, "looks like the lake has some fi-" Fire was cut off by the sound of an emerging tentacle, then two, and then three. "Holy pugs in a pizza box!" he said as the tentacles began to attempt to squash him. He bucked at the one, and attempted to light the others on fire with his fire trail, but it didn't work, they just kept putting the fire out using the lake water. "A little help?!" he yelled out, dodging another attack.
"Thank you, Winter, for this water, but as i can see, our colleague seems to need help." Ebon summoned his wings, joined them in front of him, and launched a fireball at the first tentacle. (Roll a dice... 5, shot!) Ebon had burned a part of the tenacle, wich swang directly to him, as a counter attack. (Roll... 3.) The tentacle hit him, dealing light damage; his mane was all wet, and he was a little confused by the shock of the impact, but still he was able to defend himself.
Winter suddenly saw Firebreeze being attacked by the lakewater, adrenaline filled his veins as he ran at Firebreeze. He knocked Firebreeze away just in time to save him from being squashed, but he was envolped by it instead. The water tentacle kept in baring down on the spot where Winter was, concealing his fate.
