After a while of traveling and avoiding any form of trouble, the group made it to a dock located in one of Ellions major cities. They have noticed that the closer they got to Equestria, the more tense the situation got. Venquis remembered traveling with Lance and Cobra in the same city, Crystal Coast. "This place brings me back." Venquis said. "The closest dock is located on the eastern side of town. It's roughly a five mi-" Venquis said before he was cut of as a arrow hit his chest. Venquis looked up to see that it was a royal guard from Equestria. He could see Silver bringing up his weapons, Venquis put his hoof on Silvers sword suggesting him not to fight the guard. He then removed the arrow from his chest like nothing happened. "He's mine. If he attacked me first, he must have been one of the ones that commanded his attack on the Ryborians. If he wasnt, that arrow would have gone and hit the Princess instead. You make your way to the docks, this wont take long."
(The Dragon cave, from what i know, is in The Crystal Kingdom, which is across the ocean from Ellion. Crystal Coast is the largest city in Ellion and is the only "Safe" route to Equestria or The Crystal Kingdom.)
(it's between ellion and the crystal kingdom, with an underground network leading to the crystal kingdom.)
(We can head there once the group reaches the Equestrian mainland. Of course, traveling by ship DOES open up the possiblity of a naval battle, if anyone is interested. Maybe we should figure all of this out in the OOC Chat.)
At Obsidian's request, Luna told the entire group the story of Twilight Sparkle and the Elements of Harmony. She had just begun telling of Twilght Sparkle's coronation day, when an arrow struck Venquis in the chest. Silver instantly drew his swords, but was stopped by Venquis, who insisted on fighting alone. "Very well, Venquis. Send that foal to Tartarus. Princess, we need to move, quickly. Follow me, everypony! We must reach the docks!" Princess Luna spread her wings and flew quickly towards the docks. Silver Crescent picked up Holly and took to the sky beside the princess. Arriving ahead of the group, they landed on the nearest ship available, an Equestrian Navy patrol ship. The crew rushed onto the deck, brandishing weapons. Silver grinned. "Princess? Shall I remove these pests?" Luna responded with a grin of her own. "I am not helpless, Silver." Her eyes glowing with powerful magic, Luna levitated the entire crew into the air, and tossed them into the water below. As she did so, an entire platoon of Equestrian soldiers poured out of a nearby warehouse, and aimed their crossbows at Silver and Luna. Silver was furious with himself. He had walked into a trap. Positioned as he was, directly between the soldiers and Luna, he could not risk movement. His body was all that stood between the princess and a hundred crossbow bolts. It was impossible to fight back without leaving the Princess exposed. He stood perfectly still and waited for the volley. Hopefully, the princess would be able to escape while the soldiers reloaded.
Yclept turned invisible, & cast a spell, launching & changing his voice, to make it seem as if he were a soldier trapped in the warehouse
A call for help from the warehouse caught the attention of the enemy commander. It was only a momentary distraction, but it was exactly what Silver needed. Equestrian soldiers were trained to shoot only upon receiving a 'Fire' command. With the commanding officer distracted, Silver had enough time to point to the line of soldiers and speak a single word. "Kill." The commander laughed. "Kill? And what, pray tell, is to do the killing? Face it, Night Guard... you've..." A look of sheer terror crossed his face as a howl echoed across the docks. "Sweet Celestia... it cannot be... they were hunted to extinction!" Holly stepped out from behind Princess Luna, and snarled. She launched herself over the side of ship at the commander. The archers reacted too late, and one hundred crossbow bolts flew, completely missing the fast-moving Holly. The Timber-Wolf struck the enemy commander hard enough to knock him to the ground. Before he could stand up, Holly was upon him, biting and clawing. His death was mercifully quick.
Obsidian pulled the ship's navigator out of the main room where he had been hiding. He threw him down onto the main deck, next to Silver, before jumping off the side of the ship, grabbing one of the crossbows held by the slain archers, and pole-vaulting back aboard. "We should leave before more arrive. Do any know how to drive ship?"
Silver whistled, and Holly trotted merrily up the gangplank back aboard the ship. She was completely covered in the blood of the enemy soldiers. "Good work, old friend. That was... unexpected." Silver had hoped that Holly would keep the soldiers occupied long enough for him to join the battle. Instead, she had torn an entire platoon to pieces in a matter of minutes. Silver turned and spoke to Obsidian. "There are no more coming for now. This trap was Celestia's ace in the hole. It failed. We are safe, for now. Besides, young buck... Venquis has not returned yet."
(Damn. I had the perfect post for a battle scene against Venquis and the archers. Should i post it anyway?)
((I don't see why not.)) Several crossbow bolts flew through the air toward the timberwolf, and all missed their target. They did, however, hit something: Star Shimmer. She had been attempting to board the ship, when she felt a sharp pain in her side. When she looked down, she spied a bolt lying on the ground next to her and a small chip in her side. It was then that several other crossbow bolts headed toward her, also bouncing harmlessly off her. Being made of living crystal has its perks. When the last of the archers fell, the crystal pony took a look at th scene of carnage before her. Yclept was right, she would have to be used to this kind of thing... After looking at the scene for a while, she walked onto the gangplank to their ship and stamped her hoof on the planks. Then, she drug her hoof around the planks, making the shape of a star as she went, a perfect representation of her Cutie Mark. She then closed her eyes, and muttered something in a language that Luna would've recognized as Deep Draconic. After she finished speaking, the star flashed and disappeared. She turned toward Silver and Luna to reassure then that, "It's a misdirection spell. It should buy us some time if they pursue.
Yclept became visible, teleported onto the ship, then asked star,"misdirection huh? Could you teach me that some time?"
"I-umm... I'm not the best with that stuff... All I really know is alittle Latin....", Yclept conveyed, blushing slightly
Star Shimmer giggled, something she rarely did. "Oh, I have so much to teach you, then." She motioned the unicorn over to another area of the ship, away from the others.
"Everypony on board? Good. We should get underway. This ship is fast. We should reach the northern coast of Equestria in three days. Get comfortable, ponies. We're going to be on this boat awhile." Silver found the ship's registration. It had been named 'Celestia's Honor.' He showed it to his companions. "I think we should find a new name for this bucket."
Silver grinned. "Perfect. Welcome aboard the H.M.S. Dishonored, flagship of the Lunar Fleet. It has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?"
