She shook her head slightly to try to clear her vision, but didn't keep her eyes off the trees. "It's fine..."
Eventually her vision would fade as she blacked out. Warner caught her while Zad quickly extinguished the fire.
Adeline's head tipped back as she fainted, but her brows were furrowed still, almost as if scolding Warner even in her unconscious state.
He frowned, picking her up carefully. Sariel watched over her with worry, saying nothing. Zad sighed irritably, turning to them. "Warner, take her to her room. Sariel, wait with her until she wakes up, then tell her to come and see me." After this, they all went to their assigned places.
Addie woke a couple hours later, her white hair messy as her eyes fluttered open. She sat up, clearly bewildered.
"I thought I could do it," she said defensively, brushing through her hair with her fingers and taking out her contacts, slipping on her glasses. "I was doing pretty well." She paused, rubbing her temples. "Christ, I have a headache."
