Adeline didn't jump, but suddenly grew to look absolutely furious. She stared down at his fist for a moment, her expression dark and vicious. "You need me but I'm making it difficult? *squee!* you, Zad. I'm not a *squee!*ing tool that you can just pick up and sharpen and then put away whenever it's convenient!"
"That's not how I see you, Adeline," he said lowly. "I see you as someone who was taken here unwillingly," he glared at Sariel, "and now you don't know what to do, and I don't know what to do. I want to help, but everything I do just isn't working." He stopped suddenly, taking a seat very tiredly. His voice showed sudden weakness. "I apologize Adeline. I just fear for your safety."
She stared at him, her brow furrowed in frustration. "Don't lose sleep over it," she said bitterly, heading towards the doorway. "Your 'tool' isn't going to damage itself before you guys get what you need, so there's nothing to apologize for."
She said nothing, heading down the hallway. "Can you leave me alone, please?" she said sharply after a moment to Sariel. Her words were harsh, but he would be able to tell by reading her emotions that she wasn't really angry, but terribly sad.
He blinked, hesitating as if he weren't sure what to do with himself. "Of course.." he said, looking around uncertainly before walking off.
She allowed herself to feel guilty for one moment before a small sniffle shook her body and she flew off.
Sariel went to the field again, pursing his lips before allowing himself to lay on his back in the grass, stretching out his wings and relaxing as he watched the strange, strange sky.
Addie flew aimlessly, climbing higher into the sky as she let the oxygen drain from her lungs slowly. She would drop slightly, catch her breath, and then gradually float back up to the thinner air. Her cheeks were rosy from the cold, but she didn't seem to notice, evidently troubled.
She looked up suddenly, her eyes wide. She finished the note and left it on Zad's desk, heading for the door. "Sariel?"
He was coming down the hallway. His wings looked.. green. "There you are. Do you still want to be by yourself?"
