"We are going to the Inferno," he replied. "It's not as bad as it sounds. Trust me. It's actually quite fun. As for me? I'm Warner. Warner William's. Nice to meet you."
She squinted at him, raising one eyebrow as she finished tying her hair back. "Warner Williams is taking me to the Inferno. It sounds like a line from the Beatles."
With a single, powerful beat from his wings, they took off into the sky, leaving the ground behind them.
Adeline felt the air leave her lungs as she looked down off the side of the creature, her eyes wide with amazement.
Warner was right. It certainly was windy and loud. They flew through the sky before Warner shouted something. It was inaudible but powerful. A portal opened in front of them and they dove through.
Adeline squeezed her eyes shut as they dove through the portal, a small yelp ripping itself from her chest as they made it through.
The burst through, emerging into a new world. It was a glittering city, the lights bright. She would look around and find other creatures in the sky with them.
She blinked, looking around with awe, her jade eyes widening. She tucked a lock of white hair behind her ear as it flew loose. "What... what is this place?"
He glanced back, tilting his head slightly. "Welcome the Inferno!" The buildings of the city were... off. It was almost as if they had no definite shapes and the edges were constantly changing. She would not recognize the monsters that flew beside them, but they were larger than any she had ever seen. There were creatures on the ground as well. Many were hard to make out, but there were some that were tall and giraffe-like that were easy to see.
She looked around, gripping onto the feathers of the creature as she took a deep breath. "Warner, am I going to be eaten?"
"Oh, nice," she said, taking a deep breath. "That's an added benefit. Can you tell me what's going on, now?"
