Her hand rested on the side of his jaw for a moment, and her thumb brushed his cheekbone before she pulled away and left, closing the door behind her.
Addie was sitting cross-legged in midair, her brows furrowed and her eyes closed. She had made a pod of vines around herself so that she was comfortably resting inside the twisting branches. Outside of the pod, a small dip had been made in the ground, as if a giant had reached down and taking a fistful out of the world, and the pod floated in water inside the dip.
Her eyes opened and the water trembled before draining away. The pod fell to the bottom of the hole and a slight yelp could be heard. The vines shriveled away and Addie was on her back, looking up at the sky in the ditch.
She nodded and levitated again, closing her eyes. "Tell me what to make. I want to try to bring it into existence."
She considered this, pursing her lips before pressing her palms together. She cupped it and extended a hand. A light blue egg sat in her palm, and she offered it to Sariel.
