Her eyes were wide as she returned to herself and she was shaking, her whole body trembling as she stared at nothing, still twitching from the pain of the attack.
Hardly a moment later Sariel was there, his white wings splayed out and his hand forcefully gripped Zad at the neck. He seemed to have a certain glow that was almost heavenly. A steam or smoke rose from where the two skins met, and Zad hissed as the holy touch burned him. Sariel threw him to the ground, standing over him, defensive of Addie.
It was taking her a moment to process everything she had seen, her whole body twitching uncontrollably. She lifted her head weakly and reached out, her hand shaking as she touched Sariel’s ankle. “Don’t... don’t hurt him..,”
Zad was lying on the floor, his hands to this throat as he faced away. Sariel looked down at her. "Why?"
She was shaking so badly that she could barely prop herself up with her arm, but she did, a sharp whimper forcing itself through her throat as her body complained. “I, ahh... I asked him to do it. I asked him to. Don’t hurt him.”
He knelt down, taking her arms. His touch was relieving, washing away the pain that she felt in her arms.
She relaxed in relief, but couldn’t take her eyes off of Zad, the image of the girl still in her head. “Could you help him?” she asked, clearing her throat before looking up at Sariel. “I’m okay. I promise. Could you heal him?”
“Please,” she said, squeezing his hand worriedly. “I think he’s really hurt. I *squee!*ed with his head.”
Sariel sighed, letting go of her and returning to Zad. He went to heal him, reaching out his hand, but Zad grabbed his wrist roughly. Sariel cried out mostly in shock, but a bit of pain as he pulled away quickly.
Addie sat up suddenly, her brow furrowed. “Zadkiel, stop it,” she said harshly, her voice severe and sharp. “You should be ashamed. Leave Sariel alone.”
She frowned, propping herself up with a wince. “I’m going to go see him,” she said, standing up shakily. “I’ll be back, okay?”
“Stay here. I’ll be fine. I promise.” She paused for a moment, brushing her fingers through his hair. “Thank you for saving me. I’ll be back.” She looked over at Warner for a moment before leaving, heading to Zad’s study.”
