She frowned, looking over at him. "Hey, baby. Why are you awake? It's the middle of the night," she protested, coming over and kissing him lightly, her lips tasting like mint. "Go back to sleep."
A small smile crossed her lips and she kissed the top of his head. "God, I love you. I was going to go practice a little."
She pursed her lips, her brow furrowing. "Hm. How about this? I'll stay until you go back to sleep, okay? And I'll be back before you wake up."
"No, you need to get good rest," he mumured, standing up and wrapping his arms around her and sitting down. "Sleep the whole night."
She laughed lightly, her fingers running through his hair slowly. How many more nights, she wondered, did she have to sleep next to this boy? The thought made her ache and she relented, kissing the top of his head and slipping onto his lap. "Okay. You win."
He pulled her close, kissing her head lovingly. "Amazing.. Okay, lie down on your stomach. Just trust me."
She frowned, looking as if she did not trust him at all. "Are you going to sit on me?" she asked warily, doing as he asked and slipping out of his lap to rest on her stomach. "Molly used to actually jump off the bed and land on my back when we were younger."
He laughed lowly, moving to kiss the side of her neck before slowly massaging her shoulders. "That sounds malicious.'
He would be able to feel that she was extremely tense, possibly from the multiple tests she had performed on herself earlier that day. At his touch, however, she exhaled sharply, reaching back and touching his hand. "You... you don't have to do that, Warns. You were asleep."
She looked like she wanted to protest, her brows furrowed worriedly as she looked over her shoulder at him, but eventually, she let go of his hand, letting him continue. "I don't know what I did to deserve you."
She fell silent for a moment, feeling like a sob was welling up inside her and knowing that if she tried to speak, she would start crying. He was so wonderful and so good to her and it felt so right being with him and it might all very well go away within an instant. She didn't say anything, keeping her head down as tears fell down her cheeks.
She wiped away her tears as hastily as she could, trying to avoid letting him see. "Thank you, Warns," she said tremulously, fighting to keep her voice even.
