She put her hands on his chest, almost as if she wanted to push him back but didn't have the heart to. "There's just... you're so wonderful, Warner, you have no idea..."
Something that may have been a whimper bubbled up and she shook her head slowly, resting her head on his shoulder. "There are so many things going on, Warner."
She softened slightly, running her fingers through his hair gently before leaning down and kissing his forehead. "I need to be doing something right now," she said quietly, her eyes wide and wet with tears. "Okay? I'll be back soon, but I don't think I can talk right now. I gotta think."
She sighed, cupping his jaw in her hands and kissing him for a moment, her forehead resting against his. "I'll love you," she said quietly, "for forever and a day. Go back to sleep, Warns. I'll be back when you wake up."
She nodded quickly and he would be able to tell she was on the brink of crying again. She headed towards the door and spoke to him tearfully. "You really are wonderful, Warns," she said, opening the door.
She paused, looking absolutely crestfallen. "I love you too," she replied quietly, her voice jumping in her throat as she closed the door gently behind her.
Addie sat in the courtyard, tears filling her eyes as she went through the process of creating a void over and over again. They sputtered and failed in her hands and she grew more and more upset with each attempt, waving away the dark vapor as they continually died on her. After almost an hour of this, with tears pouring down her face, she watched as she lost the void once more. A spark of rage ignited within her chest and she sank to her knees, silent and shaking, her head tipped back towards the sky. Her breathing hitched in her chest and she felt something like panic building up. "*squee!*," she heard herself say quietly. "*squee!*. *squee!*. *squee!*." She was unable to catch her breath, her whole body trembling as waves of panic swept through her, making her unable to breathe. She bent into almost a praying position, her head against the cobblestone ground. Clouds rolled in above her as she gasped for breath, her fingers curling into the ground and causing the stone to split and crumble under her fingertips. Rain poured from the sky, soaking her clothes as she sat, alone at night in the ruined courtyard, the stone around her split and broken and the fire in her chest burning fiercely.
After almost an hour, she sat up slowly, her brow furrowed and her eyes unfocused. She looked around at the courtyard she had ruined, her gaze loose. As she stood up, the crumbling ground repaired itself, stone melding together and walls reforming, undoing the damage she had caused. She didn't look at it, instead focusing on her open palm in front of her. The void formed instantly, a perfect sphere in her hands. As she watched, it became less perfect, seeping into the air like fog. With a single thought, it tightened again, seething and poisonous. She let it play in her fingers while her mind wandered slowly. In the walls in the courtyard, vines began to grow.
Her gaze flickered up to him, her brow furrowing slightly. She didn't say anything for a moment. "Did you sleep?"
