She was sitting on her bed, looking at the ground at the sound of the knock. She frowned, looking up before going to the door and opening it.
She laughed almost sheepishly. "I've just been told that I need to take down an all-powerful being. How should I be feeling?"
She took a deep breath, shaking her head. "Zad, less than a day ago, I was alive and now I'm not. It's just... it's a lot to take in, you know?"
He was quiet before resting his hand on her shoulder. "I know, Adeline. I've seen countless people pass through here. It's hard to forget a humans natural cling to life."
She frowned, not meeting his gaze for a moment. "Was I supposed to die?" she asked after a pause. "I mean, we still don't know how I died, but... I mean, if I was chosen, or whatever, did my... you know, did my family know that I died?"
"I've never experienced something like this Adeline, but you have my word I won't let anything happen to you."
