She sighed and looked utterly heartbroken. It would be surprisingly sad to see her lose her good mood and she nodded slightly. "Okay. Thanks anyway."
She shook her head, looking like a child being told that Christmas was canceled. "It's fine. Zad, when do we leave?"
She looked over at him, her eyes closed off and disappointed. "Of course there would be dirt in your hair. It's a plant."
She shrugged solemnly, looking down at the ground after a moment. "It's fine," she repeated. "It's fine."
"I definitely am," she said matter-of-factly. "But he has refused to help me, and so I'm choosing to walk away from our demolished friendship."
"Hush, felled serpent! You have hurt your last soul," she said dramatically, turning to face him. "Never again!"
