"Something I inherited from mostly my mother, but a little of my father.", Bryz replied, picking up scrap metal as they walk.
"Ah, and who were your parents?" Dusk said, accidentally bumping into her as her stepped over a disemboweled corpse.
With Yuri beside her, Charlie entered what's left of her house, she had checked the neighbors most of them were gone but the rest laid lifeless in a tangled mess on the floor. "I never really cared for my neighbors." she told Yuri. Charlie lifted a loose floor board in her closet and pulled out a fire proof safe, inside was a fair amount of bits and a white envelope. Charlie grabbed all of the bits and placed the envelope in the inside pocket of her cloak.
Yuri smiled sadly at Charlie, "I've never had neighbors... or friends, for that matter." Yuri nuzzled Charlie's cheek and went to the surviving upper floor of a ruined house.
Charlie radioed in, "Clear on the north side. Going back to the meeting area." Charlie left the house with Yuri in tow, the walked maybe a mile before they reached the spot. Since they were the first ones Charlie hid them in a fort like crate for now
Just, your ability, and your heritage. I've never actually stopped and chatted with your kind before, no offense. I was in the Pegasi Conflict, but you would've been younger. It was the first time I'd seen combat." Dusk looked haunted by the experience, "I never wanted to do it... but... I had to..." He said aloud, more to himself than to Bryz.
Dusk shook the thought from his head, "A soldier's duty is to protect the inhabitants of any city, anytime. So why did Celestia give the order? What did the Pegasus ponies ever do?"
Dusk laughed, "Hey, that tickles!" He prepares to tackle her playfully, but stops. "Is that... no, no it can't be! Bryz, that's a nuclear missile silo..." He said, pointing at the center of South Ponyville. "Charlie, how close are you to the South Plaza? A quarter-mile? Good. Get here as fast as possible, and be careful!"
Charlie picked up her pase and moment later her and Yuri had caught up. "What's going on?" she asked.
"That's a good question Bryz... a good question indeed..." Dusk grabbed his comm, "Everypony, switch to the secure link, so we can talk without the enemy listening in on us. Charlie, Yuri, there's a nuke silo a few yards from your current position. Stay in the rubble to the right, we'll meet you there." When they met up, Dusk told them everything. "We're going in, you ready?" He asked.
Dusk gave a light kiss to everypony's cheek, "For luck..." He said, leading the way to the missile bunker. (Alright, I've gotta get some sleep, goodnight everybody.)
