She walked alone on one of the many trails through the woods, she called it the weeping woods though for she went through it every night crying. What was she crying about though, that was the question other ponies continually asked themselves and she knew it she could see it in their eyes. She was crying because she could not remember her name, it was lost to her in a depths of her mind where she would not be able to reach it. "Why do the others have to be so cruel to me and make fun of the fact that I have no name?" she asked nopony but herself. "Because young one it empowers them and makes them seem stronger to others who would mess with them." said a voice up a head, it shook the filly to the core and yet there was a warm presence there one she had never felt before. The filly looked up and saw ice colored pony, deep crystal blue was her coat and her mane flowed like the waves that washed across the stars. Who was this mysterious mare that had somehow gotten the drop on the filly, for she had a very keen sense of hearing at times when she did not want to be seen. "Who are you?" asked the filly in awe she had never seen a pony as beautiful as this one before. "My name is Moon dusk, may I walk with you?" asked the mare. "Sure, I would love the company." said the filly excited that she finally had somepony to talk with. They walked on for what seemed like hours before coming to a small hut in a grove of trees, it was warm inside the hut and there was even a sky light that stretched the entire width of the ceiling on exception of where it met the walls. When the filly looked up she was awed by the sheer presence of the star scape in front of her. "Beautiful is it not? At times I just sit here and enjoy the view, now tell me do you see anything in the sky that captures your attention the most?" asked the Moondusk to the filly. The filly pointed to a bright object near a cluster of stars, the mare just nodded with a smile on her face. "That is called a nova a star that is dying in the sky, but from death comes life. A life given in the defense of those who should live is a life worth giving, it is also a symbol of strength and courage not to mention determination much like you." said Moondusk. "Me how is it like me?" asked the filly with a quizzical look on her face. "You are determined to continually go to flight school even though you know that you are going to laughed at for not having a name. That is also a strength after which follows courage, all three of these virtues are inside of you. Now would you like to finally have a name though it may not be the one originally given to you?" asked Moondusk, the filly nodded slowly not out of suspicion but out of tiredness it had been a very long day after all. Before Moondusk could even tell the filly her name she was out like a light, but she slept better than ever before. When the filly woke up the next morning she found that she was in a clearing in the middle of a grove of trees, one of the trees was a giant oak but its coloration was different it had a sort of bluish hue to it. The filly then noticed that there was a necklace in front of here along with a note, "I am sorry to have to leave you, but as a gift take this necklace along with your name, Nova. Remember always be courageous, always know that you have the strength to overcome anything, and above all that your determination will win you friendship if you set it upon the right path. I will always be with you remember that, and if ever you need my guidance look for one whom is of my race and is as a son to me and he shall guide you upon your path- Moondusk." "So my name is Nova?" asked the filly out loud, in response on of the branches on the tree made an up and down motion in as if in a positive response. From then on she went by the name Nova and never again did anypony in the flyer academy make fun of her, as for finding this son of Moondusk Nova would run into him soon enough.
Shouldn't this be in the fiction section of the site? EDIT: Sorry, I had some sort of mental relapse there. I'm about halfway through, I'm really enjoying it!
