(I've played Dragon's Dogma recently and it is a awesome game, which made me make this story! i hope you guys like it :3) Chapter 1: Cursed Dreams Nila knew little of her childhood or parents she never wanted to be a Arisen in the first place, but after defeating the dragon she spent most of her days helping townsfolk and training. Yet Hope her pawn stayed by her side still till this day, the two would travel together everyday looking for a quest to do yet many people still ask how she puts up with her pawn's chatter but she doesn't really mind he's helpful...Somtimes...It was quite cold out, Nila couldn't believe it was already winter she got her latern and put it on her belt while Hope was collecting items he ran up to Nila and was a step behind her as they made their way to Gran Soran, "There, Wolves!" Hope shouted and got his staff and Nila got her bow she saw the wolf and hit its right eye, that didn't slow it down at all it just seemed to get angry the wolf tackled her "Struggle the best you can!" Hope shouted she got her dagger and stabbed the wolf's jaw the wolf jumped off of her and ran Nila got her bow she knew her arows were like homing missles and she shot the wolf in its head(Note that she is a Magick Archer) after victory was achieved Hope ran to her and said "Are you hurt, master?" "I'm fine, let's get going." she said with a smile and walked to Gran Soran she wonderd how Quina and Rook were, it was winter now and the fishermen probably had no food to feed their familes now that the water was ice. As she was in deep thought she didn't notice Hope was talking to her, "Master?" Hope said tapping her shoulder she snapped out of it and turned to face Hope "We're here" he pointed at Gran Soran's gate and Nila smiled and walked to the inn she was exhausted she told Hope to wait outside the room as she swaped into her more comfortable clothes she opened the door and Hope walked in and sat in a chair he slummped in his seat and his glowing blue eyes stared at Nila she looked at the boy "Aren't you tired?" she asked in a quite concerned tone Hope raised his hand showing the pawn mark on his palm "I need no rest, when you rest i can feel you." and he put his hand down, Nila never really understood Hope, but she was sure she would be lost without him. She rested her head on the pillow looking at Hope, it was quite dark in the room the only thing she could see was his blue eyes shining in the moonlight she sighed and stretched "Well im really getting tired but i cant sleep with you staring at me 'Tis quite uncomfortable. Can you at least pretend to sleep?" Nila asked "Yes Ari-" "Please just call me Nila for now." and she fliped over on her back and rested. Hope waited until she was fully asleep and whisperd "Goodnight Nila..." The next morning... Nila opened her eyes and yawned she looked at Hope who was tidying up her things he looked at her and had a small smile "Good morning Arisen." he said and sat on the edge of her bed Nila rubbed her eyes and sat up but something broke the peaceful silence: A bloodcurdling scream Nila quickly got her bow and daggers and Hope got his staff and they got out of they're room and saw something they never wanted to see ever, An Evil Eye and when theres one Evil Eye theres more Hope grabbed her wrist frimly and ran to the gate but An Evil Eye bit her but she kicked it away and they both ran out of Gran Soran Nila catched her breath from a safe distance from Gran Soran and Hope walked up to her casting a healing spell "Please don't overdo it." he said and helped her up she felt a pain going on in the tips of her fingers but she didn't say anything, she didn't want hope to worry. They set camp in a nearby woods and as the sun began to set the got inside the tent "Hope, when i die-not saying that i will...Will you find another Arisen to serve?" it was a stupid question...But she had to know the anwser to it "No master, i be with you ev'ry day ev'ry where." he said with a blank face she smiled, she was glad he anwserd the question like that, it's been awhile since they fought anything "How about we rest for today and head out tomorrow?" She said and Hope nodded and said "As you wish Arisen." he said but he noticed something: Her fingers were bleeding "Are you ok master?" Nila looked confused at first then looked down at her hands she coverd her mouth with her left hand not trying to scream and scare Hope she tried to calm herself down and said "U-urm...We should get s-some sleep..." she inhaled and lied down and went to a deep sleep... She was at a battlefield, dead guards and innocents we're scatterd everywhere she didn't know why but she felt the urge to kill. She stumbled to a house a put the tip her dagger to someones throat if she wasn't mistaken this boy looked like Hope. Nila woke from her horrifying dream and panted Hope looked at her with that blank face of his and she smiled weakly at him she wonderd if the Evil Eye did something to her.
Thousand Lifetimes(Part 2) Chapter 1: Cursed Dreams Pt 2 Nila woke up only to see Hope sitting there staring at her, she sat up and looked at Hope her eyes were bloodshot and puffy "Master you barely slept." Hope said Nila laughed uncomfortably and got up Hope followed behind her and stamped out the fire they had a quest to do and the quest involved slaying three trolls, They were at the place, it had dead trees and moutains everywhere it looked like a maze they fought a few goblins and harpies then they found the first troll Nila got her bow but then the troll seemed to come after her she jumped on the troll and slashed its arm and jumped off it Hope was casting fire spells but then out of nowhere Hope shouted "Run! It attacks women the most!" Nila was quite confused at first, but he was right it WAS coming after her she bolted just as Hope said to do and he casted Mael Storm finishing off the troll he ran to Nila and he casted a healing spell "Anytime." he said Nila smiled and walked through the maze with Hope, Nila had that urge to kill again just like in her dream but she shrugged it off after the quest was finsished they got they're reward. They never went back to Gran Soran until they were sure the Evil Eyes were gone. They went to Encampment and rested in one of the tents "Hope can i ask you something?" "Yes, Arisen." Nila sighed and looked at the ground "Hope i have the feeling that i want to kill you--i'm sorry but i dont know why!" she said still looking at her feet Hope was silent for a few minutes "Master...Some questions i cannot anwser." Hope said plainly "...I just need some fresh air." Nila got up and walked out of Encampment and watched the quiet waves move along the shorline she sighed and turned around to see Hope standing next to her "Let's go back to the tent..." The next morning... Nila was just about to get a knife and stab his throat then she got out of her trance Hope looking at her, she got out of the tent and tried to breathe but how could someone breathe waking up about to stab your friend? She turned to Hope "Hope can you not say anything untill we get back to Gran Soran...I just...Need to think." Hope nodded "Master, are you ok?" Nila snapped and screamed at him and she didn't just yell at him she picked him up and threw him down the hill "I TOLD YOU TO BE QUIET!!!" Nila yelled, her legs were wobbling, she walked to Gran Soran Hope got up and followed behind her not saying a word this time knowing his fate if he did. Nila snapped out of it and looked at Hope she looked at the purple bite the Evil Eye left "Arisen, i think you might be injured." Hope said looking at the bite mark it had blue fluid's leaking out of it Nila twitched and fainted and Hope dragged her to Gran Soran, protecting her from wolves, bandits, goblins, and so forth. He went to the inn where she was treated the wound seemed to close, Hope carried her to the woods Nila woke up "Ack!" and she fell on the ground, she panted and looked at Hope who was helping her up "I will go collect herbs for you." Hope said and walked away. Hope's POV I walked to a travelling merchant and bought a few herbs but I saw people mumbling something...I was about to walk back to woods when suddenly... "Going back to your master eh?" I turrned around and did not respond "Freak..." I remember Master telling me that word was rude, but I ignored it. As I walked away, I heard people insulting me calling me "Heartless", "Weak", and "Odd". I saw Master sitting down and I gave the herbs to her. "Arisen, am I...'odd'?" Master looked at me. "Who called you that?" "Townsfolk," I responded. "...Listen Hope, we had this talk before and I'm willing to give you a refresher: Your not JUST a pawn you're just the same as any human. It dosen't matter if you're a little different." I remember the talk we had about that a year ago... Normal POV Nila looked at Hope and twitched "Hope do you mind if i hit you--just once." Hope was silent and "...A-arisen...?" Nila's right arm twitched again where her bite mark was. "Master i'm assuming the evil eye did something to you." He said "What do we do then?" Hope was silent "That i do not have the anwser to, Master." It was midnight and Nila was still awake insisting she wasn't tired. "Hope how old are you?" She asked "20, master." Nila nearly choked on her own tounge "Your 20!? You look like your 15!" "Aye master." Nila got one of her daggers"Hope just once?" "Arisen, why do you wish to injure me?" Nila put away her dagger "I'm sorry..." she got up and walked to the nearby waterfall and sat down, Hope stood there "I have gained quest knowledge." Hope said plainly." "Excuse me?" she said looking confused "To help you cure the evil eyes curse." Hope said "Well then? Tell me!" Nila stood up and looked at Hope "We must find a mage west of here." he said she hugged him "Thank the gods! Let's go!" she headed west to come across a grassy hill with a few stones surrounding the top of it. "Hoy! Are you the mage?" Nila asked.
Thousand Lifetimes(Pt. 2) Nila woke up, her eyes were bloodshot and her fingers have stopped bleeding but a intense pain was in her right shoulder, she groaned mainly because she couldn't sleep at all last night she got out of the tent and saw Hope sitting by the fire "Hello master." he said blankly, "Hope, i..." she gulped and looked away from Hope "I think i have a problem..." she mutterd but Hope heard "With?" he asked and she sighed "Forget it." she seemed to be getting more and more agressive, she sat down next to a nearby waterfall and Hope said "I have gained quest knowledge." "Excuse me?" she said quite confused. "To help you, i can feel that your unhappy and in pain--your shoulder hurts, doesn't it?" he said in a concerned tone she uncomfortably laughed and said "Well? Cat got your tongue?" "A mage north from here may be able to help you." he said "Why are we standing around here then? Let's get going before nightfall." she said and got up heading north they found a grassy hill with someone just, standing ontop of it "Hoy! Are you the mage?" she asked "...Who do you think i am some random old man standing on a hill?" "That's just what i thought..." mutterd to herself and shook her head "Can you assist me?" "With...?" she sighed and mumbled "Apparently my friend here says im cursed..." Hope looked at her his eyes were wide she has referred to him as "Friend" before but only once when they first met. "I see, come inside." He said with a dry laugh and walked inside Nila followed him his house was small, you had to be careful not to hit your head on the sealing she sighed and heard a thump behind her apparently Hope hit his head on the sealing she giggled then suddenly the house seemed much more...Bigger "Sometimes i have magic spell's that go...'Haywire'" he said and flipped through the pages of what seemed to be an old book."You have been cursed alright, i never worked with an Evil Eye's curse, they have some ill magic." Hope and Nila looked at each other and back at the mage "This should be intresting..." He mutterd. "What do you mean you never worked with an Evil Eye's curse?" she asked trying not to yell at him or show any sign of anger "I MEAN that Evil Eye's magic will play tricks on you, you never know if its really cured or not." Nila gulped "Follow me" he said and walked into a room, the room had a fireplace next to the bed "The Evil Eye has placed a Demon inside of you--now this Demon can be removed at high level's of advanced magic. Your lucky that i've been doing this for 90 years, now you will feel a pain for two day's but trust me it'll be worth it-" he was cut off by Nila "Is that it?" "No now let me finish my lecture...The Demon might take over your body as you sleep and-" "What the hell do you mean?" she said gulping "The Demon will use your body and try to hurt itself thus hurting you. But don't worry i'll keep you chained and locked in your room." she twitched and sighed "Can we just please get this over with...?" Nila was chained on her bed unable to move, she sighed and closed her eyes trying not to be difficult. Her eyes opened, they were purple instead of her Emerald green she had a grin on her face she easily broke the chains getting up she walked to the door but since the door was locked she took the window climbing up to the roof her eyes sparkled in the moonlight she made a low growling sound and climbed back on the ground using the front door to enter she searched the kitchen but Hope was still awake in his room and walked to the kitchen getting his staff he saw Nila but she was pale and her eyes were filled with anger and hatred. She tackled him she had a knife in her hand and was just about to stab Hope until The mage used magic Hope has never seen before suddenly blue scars was allover her then she lied there on the ground, Hope panted and draged her to her room wondering if this demon would change his master forever. Next morning... Nila woke up she felt sore and numb she saw hope un-chaining her, she wanted to say something but all that came out was a dry whimper Hope looked at her and put the chains away leaving the room, a few minutes later he came back with a bowl of water and put it near her mouth she drank it and groaned "Hope...The D-demon took...took over...d-d-didn't it...?" she said so silently it sounded like a whisper, Hope nodded and clearly he didn't want to talk about what happened last night he never wanted to see her like that...Bloodthirsty, and crazed. It brought chill's down his spine. "Arisen, you should rest." He said and sat in the stool she nodded not really wanting to move her head because it felt like it was about to fall off--but it wasn't, perhaps her body is too numb. She closed her eyes but she wasn't sleeping, her eyelids were hurting so she closed them. It's only been minutes but it felt like hours to her, she has felt this weak many times in her life it wasn't new to her she was deep in thought untill she heard voices downstairs. "W...what now?" she mumbled
Thousand Lifetimes(Pt.3) Nila slowly got up and inhaled she stumbled to the door holding the knob for a few seconds, and opened it very slowly making a creeking sound she heard them talking but couldn't make out what they were saying she heard footsteps walk upstairs and she quickly closed the door and sighed "Damn..." she mutterd crossing her arms she felt a little better, there was a slight soreness on her ankles and wrists because of the chains she actually forgot about everything last night she looked up noticing Hope was standing infront of her "Uhm, good morning." she said smiling at him there was a knock at the door and after that a loud thud could be heard Nila and Hope slowly walked downstairs only to see bandits "Just what i need to wake me up..." she sighed Hope not getting she was being sarcastic, the two easily took out the bandits but they didn't look like any normal ones they had dark purple armor with a black spiked helmet and they had a scar that was glowing on their arm the mage walked in and sighed dragging the bodies somewhere Nila sighed and grabbed Hope's wrist dragging him upstairs back to their room she closed the door and sat on the bed "Are you ok master?" she glared at him "No, why would anyone be ok after a demon took over they're body!?" she yelled at him while Hope stayed silent, Nila got up and walked outside to think suddenly an arrow with a note landed infront of her she read it and it said "Come to beach" she just stared at it and twitched she got up and finally found Hope he was...Sleeping? He never EVER slept before...Nila poked him and he rolled over on his other side. She smiled, but then remembering the note...She knew of no beaches maybe theres one nearby "Nila...?" she looked at Hope who was still half-asleep she giggled and sat next to him sighing she decided to take it easy for a few seconds, Midnight After telling Hope about the note they set off aimlessly looking for a beach--but to they're luck they actually found one it had a tent as well but before even moving one step someone stabbed them in the back, literary. "...u..gh.." she moaned sitting up her eyes adjusting to the dark environment she saw Hope knocked out as well he got up and few seconds after her both very confused she stood up now realizing they were in a cage she walked over to Hope and glared at him then one of bandits said "Look what we have here." he laughed "Where the hell are we?" "Watch that language lassy." she pouted then said "Fine, do as you will. But tell me: Why are we here?" "You'll see soon enough..." And with that he left Nila was about to explode in rage she sighed and noticed there was a grate above them they could tear off to escape "Can i have a break...?" she mutterd and after many attempts they finally pulled it off she climbed out first helping Hope up she looked around after that a man on a horse noticed that they were aboit to escape she grabbed Hope's wrist and ran as fast as she could knowing that they were all chasing after them they found a place they could hide in they waited untill making sure the coast was clear and headed back to Gran Soren at the inn many questions were in the two's mind. Nila just hoped to live another day. Hope's POV I stayed silent as i watched master, she didn't seem the same at all she was more stressed and filled with rage maybe i should talk to her tonight... "Master...?" "yes?" "You don't seem well." "I'm fi-" "Your skin is pale and your eyes are red not to mention your increased level's of stress." Nila was silent for a bit "...S-so...?" she mutterd i gave her a hug and smiled i wish i could help her, but there is nothing i could do i want this demon to leave her alone but not everything can go our way. She lied in her bed panting in her sleep i sat there staring at her. "Hope..." She said in a breathy tone i looked at her "Yes, master?" she turned on her side so her back was facing me "Nothing, maybe another time...?" "...Master..." She never was the same i wanted my old master back, the one that always had a smile on her face. I sighed and looked at her for a minute and got up "Master? Are you awake...?" i said silently not wanting to wake her if she was still asleep there was no anwser so i sat back down i'm afraid that i might loose her forever. Normal POV After a few minutes Hope's pawn mark began glowing he looked at her sleeping peacfully, her eyes opened barely even sleeping a few seconds..."Hope what do you think those bandits even want?" she said "I do not know Arisen." "Ah very well..." she pouted "Master you should rest more." Nila was silent for a few momments then said "I rather be bloodshot then let that demon take over." Hope sighed in utter defeat "Master please..." "Fine..." she mutterd and closed her eyes Hope actually fell asleep himself, Hope wanted this demon gone for good.
