*keeps forgetting that Yami is a big time staffmember now* I don't own any merchandise. I have no money. I'm certain they would not be approved, though.
My mom acts like I'm five again whenever I bring up my little pony, and she talks about it like it's a disease. I don't think she has a problem with me liking it, though. My dad doesn't really care about anything I do, unless it involves family, school, or buying something. And most of my friends are into the show/fandom as well.
It's great to live in a country where they don't even know what bronies are. I don't need to tell anyone anything about it. ~Moved to Community Discussion~
Most of my friends are in the fandom, so there's that. I'm sure that those who aren't would give me wierd looks if I ever mentioned anything about them. My parents don't really care since I'm out of the house. My mom was looking through pictures on my phone (I had some photos of drawings that I did), and she said they were "really good". My co-workers dont' really seem to know what a brony is. They just know that I have pretty ponies on my desktop. Some of them have complimented the artwork in the pictures I've used for my desktop.
My friends know that I am (or at least, used to be) a little... eccentric and random, so to be honest something like this just doesn't surprise them at all, some are even bronies themselves (a few of us were planning on a Birmingham brony meet up back in June, but the plan fell apart so we didn't go). Mom doesn't care. Dad thinks I'm gay (homoromantic asexual, but he's a huge homophobe and it will only cause trouble). My sister used to find it embarrassing until: - Her friends geeked out about John de Lancie (Star Trek fan) and Dave Polsky (because he co-wrote Scary Movie 2). - She started working with disabled children and the mother of one of the children got into a conversation with her. My knowledge of MLP stock, and where to get it - though small, came in very handy.
Although, none of my friends really care that much. Like, I have them on steam, it's my iPod wallpaper and I have my iPod out a LOT. And my facebook wall has a few related posts.
My Mom doesn't care, she thinks its abit strange, but since i've been abit of an "oddball" since childhood she doesn't look to much into it, she even enjoys the show abit, i've managed to get her to watch about a dozen or so episodes with me, she thinks its cute and funny. My Dad, he doesn't care either way, but he does get mad when I spend my money on Pony stuff instead of stuff for my college classes or my car, lol. But hey I'm not stupid I would'nt buy excess if I didn't have the money for it. And my little sister ironically enough is the only one who rags me on it, but well...in all honesty she's a horrible person who has always treated me and others around her poorly for fickle reasons, so I don't really give two bucks about it, lol. As for my Grandparents, My Grandpa thinks its weird for me to wear my Derpy hat all the time, but he doesn't care one way or another. So I guess its mostly Apathy on my part. Which is good enough for me. As for my friends, they either tend to ignore it, or just joke around with it. Although I may be close to converting at least one of em to the herd eventually.
My mum asked me 'whats a brony?' after a recent brony meet, I avoided answering because I already know what her reaction would be - phone up everyone to say i like MLP, and it would be splashed all over facebook...
I've always been a bit eccentric (one of my teachers recently compared me to a "mad scientist that can't tie their shoelaces"), so it doesn't come as much of a surprise to those that already know me, especially since several of my friends are bronies themselves (not to mention that I have an affinity for animation and cartoons). My mom thinks it's kinda weird because she's heard not-so-nice things about bronies and thinks them childish, but my dad approves because he likes to see me draw "cute" things. I've had two or three people give me weird looks, but no one's said anything to me.
I have 0 brony friends in my school that I know of, and many many brony friends from other towns etc. I wish there were bronies in my school :c
No problems here. My friends know. My family knows. The only individual to make a fuss was my older brother. I swear, he has issues.
