Orange laughed. "Sure.... If it was that high, wouldn't you be with the Wonderbolts by now?" He joked.
Dark trotted by Twister, with a purposely smug look on her face, "Or maybe the Wonderbolt are too cool for you." She said mockingly as she trotted by, Step 1, exploit weaknesses
Jaden sat quietly, not communicating with other ponies, just.... waiting. A bit self consciously, she clears her throat and smiles slightly at the bickering ponies.
"Well, it's good to see that you're all getting along...or at least the ones of you that are here are. So, in order to keep things interesting while we wait for the rest of the competitors, and to give you a better idea for what this island has in store for you. This race shall be your first challenge. Everypony must compete! The rules are simple, you must go around the island for one lap, avoiding all of the obstacles that our interns just happen to be 'testing' right now. You are required to head through the Soggy Caves, past the Forest of never-ending torture and happiness (Don't ask how it got that name, we don't know either. And finally you must conquer the Cliff! OF! DOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!! You'll recognize the Soggy Caves because they are wet and are caves. You'll know the its the right forest when you see the smiley face signs around the outside of the forest, and the cliff of doom is that cliff right over to our left." He points to the towering cliff behind him. "To conquer that cliff you'll need to dive straight into the water beneath it, that may or may not be infested by pony-eating sharks. No wing's or magic allowed for that part, but everywhere else, anything goes. The winner of this race will win a special bonus for whichever team they're on in the first official challenge of the season. I am your host Chris Mcponee, and this is the beginning of the first unofficial challenge of Total, Pony, Island! On your marks...GO!!!"
Dark grinned as her wings shot open, "with pleasure." And with that, she became the first to zoom off, leaving a red trail behind her, and in her head repeating the directions given to her and keeping an eye out for those obstacles Chris told them about.
Twister was caught off guard. "Hey no fair! I wasn't ready!," he shouted. He then opened up his wings and dashed off at top speed about 50 meters behing Dark.
Dark saw the first obstacle up ahead, a not-so-well-hidden giant soccerball on a catapult, "Look out!" She yelled behind her, "Giant soccer ball up ahead!"
Twister, who was catching up and was only 30 meters away from Dark, heard Dark's warning just in time. The catapult launched the soccer ball and Twister dodged it just in time. "Phew, that was a close one," Twister said to himself.
Dark used the soccer ball distraction to suddenly dive into the Soggy Caves, and it brought about a case of her being thankful for her profession for once, sure it had long hours, little leave, and endless flying drills, but right now it was worth saving her leave up.
Twister had fallen a little more behind but was still determined to win. He went into the Soggy Caves feeling confident. He thought to himself, "This is going to be piece of cake. I am a pretty beast flier and I am gonna make it out of here miles ahead of Da-" Right then Twister flew head first into a stalagmite. He got up, shook his head, and took off once again. He felt pretty stupid after that but no one was watching so he could just say that he got lost in the caves or better yet saw that he tried to save a bat or something to sound heroic!
"Oooooh, that looks like it's gotta hurt! Little do the contestants know that we've got camera's set up all over the island. There isn't going to be a single moment of their stay here that's going to be private." Chris notices all the contestants that are yet to leave for the race. "Hurry up you lot, or else its just those two beating themselves up. Whoever comes last will have to spend the first week in chef's cabin, regardless of what team they're on...and trust me, you don't want to spend a night with chef..."
There's a tingle in the air... a crackle of energy, if you will, that would put an onset of unease into the host, or ponies around McPonee. The energy is followed by an orange flash, bright at first, and then receeding into a spherical glow. The magic then sucks into itself and takes pony form, as there... next to Chris McPonee, stands a unicorn of a white coat and a pink frizzy mane. With a shake of her head, orange sparks of energy bounce off as if they had a life of their own. "Hah! I's 'ope I's no late fo' da parteh!" Her accent a very lazy Manehattan, she turns to look at the host... at least, he's pretty sure she's looking at him. It's hard to tell without seeing her eyes from behind that giant fuzzy creature most ponies would call a mane. Hers is more like... a disaster that's already happened.
Dark Shine blinks a few times. "Wait... Race?!" He quickly darted off in the direction of the race as fast as his wings would carry him. He flew slightly higher so he could see where he was going, before dive-bombing in the direction of the soggy Caves, watching as some of the comptetition already enters the caves.
Thus far, Dark had barely managed to avoid the obstacles, when a metal barrel clipped her wing, sending her spiraling into a wall in the cave and bouncing out and crash landed on the beach. She picked herself up and studied the wing real quick, "Should be fine." She muttered as she spread her wings out and took off again, this time as fast as she could, trying to make up for lost time.
"I know, I know although it's a bit unfair we are against pegasi for celestias sake". Fire heart then started running charging her horn and did a long teleportation spell getting her a fifth around the island.
Orangebolt had no problem catching up, despite getting a late start. He caught up with Twister. "Where's that Off-the-charts wing power now?" He grinned, looking back ahead.
"come on come on". Fire heart then tripped over a camera breaking it "damn tree stump". She then continued her teleportation spell before noticing twister above her and fired a beam of magical energy into the air. "that should disorient him.
Dark found herself looking down from the top of the massive cliff, straight down into water that pretty obviously was shark infested, breathing heavily from te speed she had flown out, which surprised even her. "Alright...Let's do this.." She muttered, then jumped off, diving straight down. She started picking up huge amounts of speed in her fall, a cone appearing in front of her hoof. The resistance of the cone grew ever stronger as she approached the water, then right as her hoof touched the surface of the water right in the ring, it snapped back, flinging her high into the sky, tumbling and spiraling out of control.
