I hope it is just a mistake, but Hasbro may also be thinking, "Look at how many more new toys we'll be able to sell!" If it happens, this may be the Jumping the Shark point.
Some people don't like change, furbyguy. Personally, I can see Twilight getting "promoted." Perhaps she's royalty, although in a lesser branch, and she's suddenly sprung up with these super-magic powers, so now Celestia wants her to assume her full rights. In other words, perhaps Alicorns are made, not born.

Its just a big overreaction to the whole princess coronation thing, which people keep thinking has to do with twilight. but really Hasbro just released a "princess skyla" toy. (Anyone remember in season two how they released wedding toys? And what was at the end of season two..? A wedding.)
Well from what I've seen this Season and have heard about on the internet I really do think she might become a alicorn this Season it does seem very likely.
Honestly, if twilight becomes an alicorn I cant see how the series could continue as normal... it makes me worry that Season 4 will be last season... then movies, movies everywhere
Twilight going Alicorn would most likely be aking to Goku going Super-Saiyen in DBZ, something temporary to boost her power. Or how about this, we know the seson 3 finale is a Freaky Friday type epsiode *About Twilight messing up a spell and switching she & her friends cutie marks* Perhaps she gets Celestia's cutie mark for that ep and becomes a temporary Alicorn that way. Either way I doubt they would make her one for good before the series finale.
First of all Saiyan is spelled Saiyan as someone who's been a DBZ fan since 2002 I should know second of all I think you might be right about the whole Twilight becoming a alicorn being temporary thing but knowing Hasbro there's no telling what's going to happen we'll just have to wait and see.
I agree with Stereopony. If she does end up becoming an alicorn, I think it will be only by the Elements, and I don't think it would be just her. I think all of the Mane 6 would be transformed, not to mention temporary.

Not really sure what to think of this... If it really does happen, I hope the writers do a good job with it. But seeing as how Twilight has sort of OP magical powers already, I sure hope it's only going to be temporary. Alicorn!Twi just feel really wrong in some way. Maybe it's been heavily hinted, but I'm not going to give up hope just yet, haha.
You know i've always sorta thought that this would happen eventually like maybe one of the side effects of using The Elements of Harmony is that over time very slowly they begin to change into alicorns but even if for some reason it is just Twilight only i've been kind of expecting something like this too happen for a while now.
