If a human character were to show up in Equestria somehow i'd want it to be Dan or The Biskit Twins I think either choice would be funny.
Could someone please explain to me why Twi becoming an Alicorn would be such a bad thing? Besides the fact that it would be just for the marketing benefit of having Twilight "evolve" so to speak, what would really be so bad? I highly doubt that the main character of a children's show is about to leave the Mane 6... Unless I have no idea what I'm talking about. Most likely the latter. =~=
It isn't necessarily bad. As far as the episode synopsis goes, it appears to not be permanent. If it isn't, it wouldn't be a bad thing. It actually might be a fun thing to watch. If it IS permanent though, there's a few things that might be considered bad: 1.) As an Alicorn Twilight would likely also have the bonus ov a very long lifespan (Celestia and Luna are 1000+ after all) That would result in her eventually outliving all of her friends, which means she would be around to see every last one of her friends and family die. Likely this wouldn't be part of the show canon but it'd still be a very sad fact. 2.) As a princess she's obvioulsy gonna be involved in actually ruling Equestria. She may not have as much time for her friends as she does now. 3.) It takes away the specialness of alicorns alltogether. "Oh yeah we can just make you one like this. *poof* See?" You're basically making a normal unicorn into a demigod. That doesn't feel right to a lot of people. That's just a few of the reasons I could think of. In addition to the above, I can easily see this becoma a Derpy 2.0 situation. We all know how that ended.
Um, I think I need to point out that I have yet to hear any real official announcement that S4 will even HAPPEN. I've heard a lot of things about it from fan speculation and stuff, but I have not seen a single official announcement from the creators in which they explicitly say there will definitely be a season 4. That's what scares me so much about the Twilight Alicorn thing; this isn't the kind of development I'd expect from a season finale, it's the kind of thing I'd accept from a series finale. Seriously, can someone show me when they confirmed it?
I don't think it is canon but isn't it fanon that Spike's (or any other dragon's) lifespan is much higher than the other ponies? The most bittersweet fanfic I have ever read was about Spike's 100th Birthday and the only Man 6 pony left was Pinkie and involved the unveiling of a series of letters Twilight wrote to her friend over the years to be read after she had passed on. This would mean that Spike would never outlive the pony that hatched him.
I mean as an actual episode on t.v. besides I don't have a Tumblr account and currently have no interest in making or signing up for one.
Tumblr is the best site ever, and links together different characters from different series even more thoroughly than Kingdom Hearts. In other news regarding the Princess Twilight thing:
I'm going to bust some myths right here. The episode synopsis heavily suggests, and the official Twitter/Facebook stated that it's not permanent, it's temporary to that episode, and most likely that episode alone. This appears to be a money grab from Hasbro. If I watched Season 3 and wasn't a brony, I wouldn't be a brony. It's all one big filler. The premier threw some things up in the air for interpretation, and what have we seen of what was hinted at? Nothing. The finale will be the only link, and the episodes this season have been nothing but what bronies want, yet has been so incredibly forced in, it's not even funny. Trixie, an AJ song, more Braeburn, and Discord, everyone was crying out to see them again, and they were handled pretty poorly. The AJ song appeared to be rushed, the lyrics paled in comparison to the masterpieces This Day Aria and even the Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000. Trixie was...ok. Braeburn got like, 4 seconds of background time. Not exactly something to go nuts about. And Discord was for the most part done well, but his transformation from bad guy to good guy was so rushed that it felt unbelievably forced. And I think everyone pretty much has an opinion on Sombra's involvement... What I'm saying is, the things that were supposed to be highlights this season, were not the highlights. They were just thrown in so that bronies would stop asking them to do it, and the result is that you get poor quality, because it wasn't their natural ideas. So now that the fan service is mostly out of the way, they can hopefully focus on the show again. This Twilight alicorn thing appears to have been something they wanted people to get hyped about, but don't realise they're more worried. There's nothing to be worried about, but I can see just from this thread that things haven't been looked into other than at face value, which leads to the worrying. So yeah, £40 for alicorn Twilight toys? Guess this was their plan all along, and that they think they can shovel anything down our throats to keep our attention until they get our money. Very disappointed, I don't want to dislike Hasbro, or the show, but this season...urgh... *EDIT* The premier seemed to me like the good formula they've always had, then the majority of the rest of the season is just what they couldn't fit into Season 2
Twilight is best alicorn now? But in seriousness...I hope that even if she does transform into an Alicorn, that will be temporary. Or she declines being turned into one. ...or doesn't turn into one at all.
DHX investment relations documents - bottom of pg 11: http://investorrelations.dhxmedia.c.../Financials_and_MDA/MDA_-_English_10_1_12.pdf Not a 100% official confirm, but looks pretty clear to me.
That's what I hope for. I'm okay with it as long as it isn't permanent. If it's for that episode alone, it might even be quite funny to watch. If it is permanent though...I'm not sure I'll bother watching it after that episode, mostly for the reasons you brought up, Poetic. It just seems...unnecessary and incredibly cliché. I mean what reason is there to make Twilight a princess and/or an alicorn? Simple, there is none. Unless Luna, Celestia and Cadence are all about to die in a giant tragedy of biblical proportions (hint: they're not) there's no justification to make her a princess let alone an alicorn except for Hasbro going "We got this great toy idea, please bend the show to accomodate that." Anyway, until the episode, we won't know anything for sure so...have some tea and wait for it.
If it's temporary, it'll be because Twilight gives up the mantle for the sake of staying with her friends. I kind of hope it's permanent, because I like growth and change in my stories. And I want to see Twilight learn to fly. I wouldn't get hung up on the "demigod-ness" of alicorns. Just going by the show, we don't know how Luna and Celestia became alicorns. It seems likely now that they had to earn that transformation, and that it conveys not only a new form but new powers and new authority as well. Personally, I prefer that line of world-building to the oligarchic notion that certain ponies are just "born to rule."
They most likely were. If you go back through the story: Celestia and Luna were both alicorns when they first defeated Discord (check the window in Canterlot castle), which was (as we assume) shortly after Equestria was created. We've also seen Luna as barely, if at all, older than the Mane 6 in season 1. Now there would have been quite some time between them defeating Discord and Luna becoming Nightmare Moon. Notice, she was still a kid AFTER she was freed. How old would they have been when defeating Discord then? My guess: Very very young. Same goes for Cadence, we've seen her about as old as the rest as well (Twilight's flashback in S2). And the proof for that statement is? If you read the episode synopsis, it's pretty likely to be temporary not because Twilight wants to be with her friends but because she messed up a spell and now tries to fix it. Anyway, as I've said before, we won't know anything for sure until it happens so let's just wait for it.
you just made my day, thank you Also, if it's only one episode (specially if it's part of some kind of mess-up) that has potential to be great episode. Also, can I ask you for links to following tweets or/and Facebook status' ? This is currently also major topic and concern among Croatia Bronies, so some official news (or form VA's or Story writers) would help calm people down (also, everyone agreed (including me) that if it's one episode, that's perfectly fine (like crystal mane 6)) edit: I think I have some bad news. in of one of topics, I've writen 3 scenarios and I seems like scenario 3 will happen... Spoiler: spoilers http://www.derpyhoovesnews.com/princess-coronation-press-release-promo-video-and-extended-synopsis/#more-15054
I was just thinking, since Celestia said she had use for Discord's magic, does anypony else think it may be a result of that? IDK, just speculating.
