seems like everything points out that we'll have to get used to twilight being alicorn. I hope nothing actually changes beside her physical look.
I don't think anything will change except for the fact that she's going to have both wings and a unicorn horn.

Yeah, I've been thinking maybe it'll turn out just like the ending of Disney's Hercules, with Twilight giving up the offer of royalty so she can stay in Ponyville with her friends. Also, it has never been explicitly stated that Alicorns are significantly more powerful than other species of ponies. Yes, Celestia has enough magic to raise the sun, but that’s because it’s her special talent, and as they explained in Boast Busters all ponies with magic have where their magic is extremely powerful when used for their special talent. That also explains why Celestia was too weak to defeat Chrysalis, because her magic isn’t honed for combat; fighting isn’t her special talent, so Alicorn or not her combat magic isn’t extra strong. Also, while Celestia and Luna both have very powerful magic, they’ve also had thousands of years to practice their magic, whereas Twilight has only had maybe 15-20 years (since they’ve never actually said how old she is). Even with Twilight becoming an Alicorn, that doesn’t actually mean her magic will get ANY stronger.
i personally think if they make twilight an alicorn, the only thing they would change is her physical appearance. hasbro demanded her to only be an alicorn, not a complete character change.
When I first heard about Twilight alicorn I was like, "Oh great, this is gonna be stupid" but then over time I got used to the idea and I think that the writers will be able to pull it off
Yeah, but my point is that they have never confirmed that being an Alicorn makes you any more powerful with magic than an average unicorn. Her magic may very well stay exactly where it already is, not getting even a tiny bit more powerful. The whole idea that Alicorns are naturally superior to unicorns in terms of magic is purely a fan-based assumption about them, but it has never been confirmed. And being an Alicorn doesn't mean it'll be easier for Twilight's magic to get stronger or anything, her magic might not change a bit and might not develop any more quickly after this than it was before. To further support my point about how Alicorns are NOT inherently superior with magic, I'd like to site King Sombra. He was not an Alicorn, he was just a unicorn, but his magic was phenomenal, so much so that it took both princesses to defeat him the first time. He is a single Unicorn, but it took the combined attacks of 2 Alicorns to defeat him the first time, which proves that Alicorns are not just inherently superior to other races, because a pony of a race below Alicorns proved to be too powerful for a single Alicorn to handle.
Curious why so many are talking as if it was Hasbro that made this change, rather than the writers. Have "persons close to the matter" stated such? Anyway, even if it's due to Hasbro, that's no bad thing. Anyone remember the 1986 Transformers movie? Hasbro decided it wanted to refresh its toy line, so it fell to the writer to kill off the main cast. But what could have been merely a cynical marketing ploy became one of the most memorable moments of 80s childhoods everywhere -- the death of Optimus Prime. Point is, changes to the toy line can force writers out of their comfort zones. It can result in characters that grow and change. I like growth and change in my stories. I've been glad to see Fluttershy learn a little assertiveness, or Rainbow Dash get to pursue her Thunderbolt WONDERBOLT dream. And Twilight herself has been growing into a leader. Now it's time for her to take the next step.
