I wish more parents would take advantage of the tools they are given to help control what their children see and don't see, be it TV or video games. The rating systems are there as stated above and TVs do have the V-Chip now to limit what can be seen.

The parents and other adults that keep screaming, "Think of the children!" are more often than not the ones that never take advantage of these devices to prevent their children from seeing that which they don't want seen.

It's not the violence in games that is the problem, it's the inattentive parents that want the world to raise their children for them instead of taking personal responsibility for their offspring.

It's not letting the children play violent games. It's all about teaching them right from wrong. I grew up playing Grand Theft Auto, and I don't have violent desires. That's because I was taught right from wrong.

Good parenting is all it takes, give your child space, but be there to supervise them in places where they'll need it. Literally that's all it takes, you could raise your child up in one of the most potentially violent environments possible, you could like knives and have guns and play violent video games, but if you teach them to respect potentially lethal objects and teach them that violence will have serious repercussions, they will respect that and they will respect you. Then nothing bad should happen.

Case in Point: I'm an avid Street Fighter player and have been for 14 years. I don't go around and beat the crap out of anyone who looks at me funny.

Parents have a responsibility of what their kids play and watch anyway.

As far as I'm concerned, this is an insult to your intelligence.

People telling you that a certain media is hurting your brain or turning you into a monster will always be an insult to your intelligence. It assumes that you have no intelligence and will just accept anything your shown as something you will agree with and then emulate.

    It's this: Hypodermic Needle Model

Aaand you're not. You all have an intelligence and filters against what you see. It's why you don't go and kill people because of what you watch.

No! You do it to appease Mr Snuggles the Octopus that lives in my brain and threatens to eat all my happy memories.

    ...No? Just me? Oh...OK....

Anyway, dislike this utter crud! It's a personal insult that people still consider this worth trying to protect you from. Keep that in mind.

It's all in if the parent decides to check on the ratings before buying because Tommy wants it and everyone's playing it.

Oh GOD there are some times when a person hits it right on the nail and I wish that the whole universe would listen to what that person has to say. Congrats, you are today's lucky winner. :twi:
