You're right, potential natural disasters are certainly no laughing matter. I turned off the news a while ago, it was becoming repetitive and a bit depressing, but one of the last things I heard is they were inspecting nuclear power plants to make sure their integrity wasn't compromised. We certainly don't need that.
Here in the UK we get tiny earthquakes, the only ones in my life time that could be felt I think I slept though. Anyway related comic:
Felt a tremor here in North Carolina around 1:50pm today. Never experienced anything like that in my life. A friend in New York injured his knee diving for his Wii that was knocked off a table. It's okay though, the Wii was fine.
*Is used to Hurricanes* Hope your ok when the Hurricane hits where your at. I want a Hurricane to hit Florida...it's path is just beside the coast
Eh... I can't say I've ever been in a hurricane OR an earthquake. All I know is that If I had graduated one year earlier from high school, I would have been hit by Katrina... but that's pretty much it.
Katrina was really devastating. It went through Florida like a piece of cake, then turned so violent in the Gulf.
Hit here in Maryland, first I thought the AC was messing up or something when the house first started shaking but it was pretty obvious it was more then that when things started falling off the walls. It was more odd then destructive really, I don't think I've ever felt an earthquake here before.
I was watching ICarly while eating ramen. Oddly, last time there was an earthquake around here (very small...but noticeable) I was watching ICarly while eating ramen. I have learned that if I am eating ramen and ICarly comes on: CHANGE THE CHANNEL! It was weird tho... at first i didn't know what it was...just some weird noise in the drain. Then the house is swaying and all of our clocks with pendulums started clanging like they were possessed. I ran for a doorway, but my mom just sat at the computer and was trying to figure out if she was having a stroke or if something else was happening. *sigh*
At least nobody was killed, that's the main thing. We wouldn't want any non-Brony dying before they learnt the truth that is My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
Yes, thankfully there were no serious injuries or deaths, at least I haven't learned of any. I did hear there was some structural damage. I saw a video that showed some damage to the ceilings of a school. I'm not sure if there was anything more than that there or anywhere else. As for the image macros, I'm not sure if I'm out of line, and if I am I apologize in advance, but I don't think that's appropriate or funny. If nobody was hurt and damage was minimal, thank goodness, but keep in mind that natural events such as this are serious and can result in loss of life and damage. I just don't find poking fun at these kinds of things amusing. - Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I agree with you ePONYmous, if someone did get injured or die because of the quake, no one should joke about it. True, no one was harmed but poking fun at the mildness of the quake and pretending it was some big deal is kinda iffy for me when there are major quakes that cause millions in damages and cause numerous fatalities. Just my opinion though...
I should point out that I only found the concept of getting emotional and patriotic over a fallen deck chair funny, nothing more. I know how devastating they can be, and wouldn't ever make fun of them.
Thankfully, in this particular even, no one was injured, which is why I posted them. Some won't find them funny, but for me, with the overall mildness of it all, the idea of some lawn chairs being knocked over is quite hilarious. Now if someone were to go and make the same type of joke about an actual disaster where deaths are widespread and there's millions of dollars worth of damage, then I'd be utterly disgusted. But this... this was absolutely nothing.
6.8 earthquake in Peru just now on Yahoo news http://news.yahoo.com/strong-6-8-magnitude-quake-shakes-central-peru-180732820.html
Interesting week we have going here. Earthquakes and Hurricanes err'where; It's Disaster: Day of Crisis all over again, only spanning out over a week.
