The large man crossed his arms ever so casually behind his head. He looked first at Tektile, then back at Moonstone. He wasn't sure what today. His story was long, very long, filled with intricate complexities and hard-to-explain moments. He had to think for a moment. "Eh, did stuff, rebelled some, did other stuff, been around... Stuff." His look was utterly blank, unsure if these other Gems would quite understand. He struggled somewhat himself from his own words.
Moonstone nodded. "It can be rather difficult to sum up one's own existence in a few words. I suppose..." She was interrupted by the sound of her cellphone ringing. "Rotten thing. Sorry, but I have to take this." She dug the phone out of her purse and stepped outside.
(I was waiting for a better opportunity to insert myself, but I guess I'll do it now.) Cobalt hopped up to an alleyway nearby the three gems, and morphed back into his natural state. He approached the congregation with a smile. "Well, what do we have here? I didn't even think there were any gems left on Earth after the rebellion!"
Moonstone closed her phone and greeted the new Gem. "Another one? Well, come on inside and meet the others."
Moonstone nodded as the two walked into the donut shop to join the others. "Moonstone. And yes, they are still around... except for Rose Quartz."
Cobalt leaned against the window of the shop. "Damn. I never met her, but I heard she was a great Gem. It's a shame."
"Apparently, she has a son. A boy named Steven. Half-human, if you can believe it." The whole thing was baffling to Moonstone. She'd assimilated into Earth society fairly well, even if she was a bit behind the times, but she'd always been painfully aware of how different she was from her human friends. That this 'Steven" boy could even exist defied all known laws of biology and gemology.
"A son? That's a new one. And half-human too? Under normal circumstances, I'd think you're just perpetuating rumors, but you don't seem to be lying." Cobalt looked around at the patrons at the shop. Save for two other gems, all of the customers were normal. "I've been... out of the loop for sometime now. It appears humans have greatly evolved since the Rebellion. Tell me, what are these, 'Donuts' that this store serves?"
Moonstone looked at him incredulously. "You... You've never had a donut?" She pointed to the table in the corner. "Sit down." She immediately headed to the counter, ignoring the indignant protests of the people in line. "Sorry, but this is an emergency. I need two dozen assorted donuts, quickly." As the teenage boy with the odd earrings rang up her order, the short blonde girl quickly shoved donuts into a box. In less than two minutes, Moonstone was placing a box of donuts on the table in front of Cobalt. "Behold... the donut."
Cobalt looked at the wide assortment of pastries. None of them stood out in particular, so he grabbed a plain glazed one to start off with. He took a small bite out of it. He swallowed. "Hey! These are pretty good!" After finishing the glazed one, he moved on to one with pink frosting, also amazing. Then chocolate, then vanilla, as well as every other flavour imaginable. Cobalt wiped the crumbs from his mouth. "The last time I remember, humans still lived in caves and we're barely coherent! It's cool to see how much they have progressed, what with the boardwalks, these 'cellphones' and the donut!"
Moonstone grinned. "That's just the tip of the iceberg. I've lived among humans for the last sixty years, and it never ceases to amaze me what they can create."
(Hehe, sorry guys. I've been busy.) Lepi had been watching the small group curiously, in her time here, she had never seen this many gems in one place. She decided to approach the building.
Mal pulled up to the Big Donut she wasn't a fan of eating, but the donut shop was likely the best place to get a quick cup of cola. She took off her helmet and placed it on her bike. Shaking out her hair she had a strange feeling maybe shouldn't have come to this town.... She held he left shoulder for a moment. Were there other Jems in the area.... It was a good thing she was female today, the jump suit hid her jewel. Not that she had run into a lot of green skinned humans, the fact was she had run into them, so hopefully she'd blend in. She walked to counter ignoring the other customers. "I would like a large Cherry Cola please."
Moonstone looked at the green woman curiously. Green was not a natural human skin color, as far as she knew. Was she, perhaps, yet another Gem?
Cobalt noticed that Moonstone was staring in a different direction. He looked the same way, and quickly noticed a green woman. As far as he knew, humans weren't green. "Gems are popping up everywhere here. This can't be a coincidence."
Moonstone decided that there was only one way to know for sure. She approached the green woman and cleared her throat. "Pardon me miss, but are you, perhaps, another Gem?"
