Isn't Fear, Grand? Don't you just love how Fear, poisons the minds of every human beings? Oh i must add Fear of Deep Water. (Nearly drown a couple years ago in deep water. Now if i can't feel the bottem or see the bottom, then i go into a panic attack.
True, fear is also to an extent, grandeur. Because, after all... who can't state, that the grandest, greatest things in their mind don't bring up some fear? I guess I'm saying I agree. ...additionally, isn't xenophobia the fear of strangers/foreigners? ...it just sounds a little innacurate to me is all, stating that the fear of doorbells is related to xenophobia is all...
The fear of doorbells could be the fear of loud noises - OR it could be the fear of who is at the door, hence, xenophobia.
I have a phobia that I can only guess is called 'Hydromacrophobia'. I have an unbelievably extreme phobia of large bodies of water. Now, this phobia's pretty specific, so it may take some explaining. I am not afraid of the water. I am a strong swimmer, and I'm always in at the deep end. However, when we're talking massive amounts, especially on the scale of oceans, nothing scares me more. Even a picture of a submarine, or simply just a shot of under the sea literally gets me in tears. I can't explain why, although I have several theories. To give you a scale of how serious this phobia is, when I was 15, I watched Finding Nemo, a kid's film. It was a brilliant film, but I cried like a baby because of all the scenes with water. I couldn't watch the scene with the whale, it got too much.
My wife has that phobia. That's one of the obstacles that's going to prevent me from moving to Wales with her.
It's both, I hate loud noises and I hate strangers. It's hard trying to keep yourself together when they do fire drills at school. I put my hands on my ears, close my eyes, and try not to cry...dumb noise...
You've let me down once again, brain. But yeah, never actually known anyone else to have that phobia.
i read all this and go wow...then i read - and think....that answers it....... now why the hell does everything have to have a fear or name? and yea, laugh because i fear car headlights, but one tried to kill me ok? thinking distance is 20ft, i saw it in 10ft, i got half a thought, you know what it was!? 'oh cra---' car headlights.....it makes riding at night a PAIN!...but i still do it...so is it really a fear? needles.......well, i lock up at the sight or mention of them borrowing into the skin, slight scratch, mah ARSE Nurses...well...nurses with needles...wakin up to one at 4 in the morning with a needle in your arm....doesn't improve matters really........ so go on smartasses, name them.
Believe me, I do! As long as they're not in my house! I don't care if they're outside. I've even watched a spider spin its web before, it was interesting. It looks like a work of art, except the bugs that get caught in it wouldn't think so. After reading some more posts I can add more to my list: Fear of piercings. Fear of public speaking (Glossophobia). Fear of failure (Atychiphobia). Fear of alarms. (Ligyrophobia — Okay, I don't know if it's a "fear" or just an annoyance, so this may not count). Fear of being single forever (Anuptaphobia). I was thinking of adding Zephyr's fear of doorbells to my list too, but I don't think that's a "fear," but more of a nuisance for me. Whenever anyone knocks on my door, I'm like "Who the heck could that be?!!" *Sneaks up to the door* Haha. I just noticed that Saikyo edited his list. Out of all of those, I can only see one more that applies to me and that's this one: Fear of wasps (Spehcksophobia).
^ This. All of this. I may not really be scared of the dark as much, but the rest? I know 100% how that feels. Sometimes I even feel that way when I'm not alone, or in a crowd. I guess I'm just paranoid. :/
Don't know the fancy name for it but, tripping and losing my teeth. I have a fear of heights. A fear on head on car crashes. A fear of needles. I can't think of any smaller ones right now.
Ah, that would be tripadentalosaphobia. Head on car crashes is craniautoimpactaphobia. A fear of needles is natural. Those things are sharp! And pointy! And sometimes pointed in my direction.
I couldn't find that on google. This one didn't show up either. I flip out if I even see one, I don't care what kind it is. It starts moving towards me and I'm running away.
Whoops! Ah, I'm sorry Pixel - I was trying to be funny. Tripadentalosaphobia - Trip - dental - loss - fear of. crainiautoimpactaphobia - Crania (head) - auto (car) - impact fear I'm very sorry - I wasn't trying to make fun of you or anything, I was just making some made-up Latin-like words for those fears. Now I feel bad. I guess I better make it plainer when I'm joking. I hope you're not too mad.
