Mae out her books away and returned back to the metal works classroom, "Aww is little Mae going to try the big toys with her bodyguard?" Raven pushed her forward making her bump into Steel, 'S-sorry" she whimpered. "you should really watch your step, don't want to fall into anyone else's arms now do we?" Raven laughed and brushed past her posy of friends following right behind.
"Ouch!" she shrieked and turned back to them, "Your not the boss of me.." she snarled, rubbing the back of her head.
"I'm the big shot in this hallway. Leave." Steel said, a group of big stallions suddenly forming a group around him and patting his back. "We'll deal with you!" They all chanted, moving a step forward
She took a step back, "S-stay away from me.." she threatened, her voice shaky with fear. "You cant do anything to me.. my daddy will call you in!" she broke into tears knowing her threat was a lie and ran out the front door, never to be seen back in school again.
Mae nodded and followed him into the classroom, sticking rather close to his side, as the past several tables with sharp tools that made Mae nervous. "So um h-how long have u been into metal working?" she asked.
"Since he first picked up a hammer at the age of seven." His teacher answered for him. "Glad to see you in my class again, Steel." "Why wouldn't I be? I love metalworking." Steel asked. The teacher shrugged. Steel began to walk back to his station. He tripped, his nose rubbing up against Mae's before he caught his balance. "Oh...Mae, I'm, uh...sorry." He said, a slight blush spreading across his face
"N-no its fine" she smiled and purposely touched noses with his then hid behind her white mane shyly and nervously. "I-if thats ok.." she then added
Steel shrugged and nuzzled her. "It's fine." He said with a smile. "Now...I'm gonna finish that sword I was working on over the summer." He said, pulling an unsharpened hunk of black metal with a steel handle out of the drawer at his station. He gave Mae some safety goggles and an apron and put his on, sitting at the grindstone and beginning to sharpen the blade. "So, Mae...I heard something." Steel said while he was working
"No...but I do now." Steel laughed. "I'll prove it." He said, giving Mae a quick kiss on the cheek and watching for blush
"Yes...don't worry...I think I feel the same way about you." Steel soothed her. "Why do you think I've been going above and beyond? Usually I stop at 'leave ____ alone or I'll _______!'" He asked
"Well i guess i can stop hiding whats in my notebook.. and i thought you were just being nice because the new girl was already getting bullied on the first day of school."
"i uhh started crushing on you when you saved me from the locker.." Mae said shyly, drawing small hearts on the table.
"Are you gonna kiss him or what? He's obviously flirting with you!" Steel's brother jeered. "Shut your mouth Bolt, all that thing is good for is melting my metal." Steel shot back, arising a loud cheer of "Ouch!" from the rest of the room. This was the only class he was open in. He trusted all of these ponies, as they were all his friends. "I do think I would like a kiss...but I need to go and fix up Raven's problems. She used to be Bolt's marefriend and she was a very sweet girl. I don't know what...but something happened." He said, getting serious.
