I hope it's okay to bump a topic up... I couldn't find any rules. lol I first got interested in the show back in early 2011, when another forum I frequented had a My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic topic. Now I honestly wasn't too familiar with the brand before this point, in fact I didn't know it ever had TV series, I thought it was just a toy line. And it wasn't one that either my sister or I played with. Nevertheless, I knew it was aimed toward girls, and the forum I was on was a gaming one where there are a lot of guys, and I was like "Huh?". So I decided to open up the topic, and it said that the show was like the cartoons from the late 90s/early 00s, which I enjoyed, so I decided to give it a try. It took very little to convince me to watch it... "A quality show intended for girls? This I must see!", because as a girl I have a very hard time finding characters I can relate to in media. However, despite all of that, the first episode I watched almost turned me away from the show. It was the "Over a Barrel" episode. Not a particularly terrible episode looking back on it, but I didn't enjoy it very much. It did not live up to the hype that the topic had set it up for. The jokes fell flat, and I found the characters to be...annoying? =( But I was determined to not give up on it, so I watched the next episode, which featured Fluttershy and Twilight Sparkle, and then I liked it. I loved Fluttershy, she was so unimaginably adorable, but also relatable. From then on I loved the show. Especially once Pinkie Pie grew on me. In "Over a Barrel" I found her annoying, and on second watching a few months ago, I will say she *is* annoying in that episode, which is sad. She is now my favorite character, and the character I can relate with the most. However, I must say that I relate with ALL of the mane 6. The show has amazing characters. Somehow able to be crazy and cartoony, but very relatable at the same time. It is episodes like Party for One, Sonic Rainboom, and the most recent Rainbow Dash episode which make me love the show (those are just a few examples off the top of my head, I have loved plenty of other episodes, of course!). As long as that remains the case, I will remain a fan of the show. =)
Two years ago my 5 yr old brother (who is now 7) was watching MLP on net flex on my PS3, I was in my room listening to music until I saw it. 'Aw hell no!' ws my thought and I talked him into watching Soul Eater (an anime) with me. I later got rather curios as to why the hell he liked it, so one day I decided to watch episode 1 season 1 by myself while the family were away at grandma's. As I watched it I was interested in it, when I paused the show I thought to myself, 'How the hell is it I like this?!' From that point on I began noticing they had already com rout with toys, I began watching more and more of it, I became a fan of the show.
