Its black spires would stretch to the skies, daring those who came at it with defensive mechanisms placed upon the terraces. Much of it would be built into the side of a mountain, and the decor would be very "black skulls and deathly robotics" and even my guards, my evil minions, would be decked out in black uniform with metallic skulls and spikes. Inside it would be much better lit, but in case of in intrusion, we would have a means to shut off the fluorescent lights and activate personal night vision sensors. My chambers would not be far from the barracks where my troops rest and train, making me the easiest thing they could defend. Meanwhile, our generated energy would be running off of a combination of sources. From planetary core steam energy to hydroelectric water power.
