A total allowable pollution level is calculated and credits are distributed equally to every person, who may then chose to keep or sell these credits, allowing whoever owns them to emit a certain amount per credit. Severe criminal penalties will be instituted for any corporation or group or individual exceeding their limits. To assist in this system's success, a new department would be created whose sole purpose is the research of cleaner technologies and implementation of nation-wide harmful material recovery and recycling programs. Codify a minimum standard of living for all citizens, by providing free access to a certain ration of internet, power, and water (based on calculated minimum need). People would only pay for services above this minimum level. Abolish the entire existing tax code, and replace it with a single progressive income tax, starting at 0% for people making nothing, and increasing up to some maximum rate levied on the wealthiest individual or organization. This income tax would be equally applied to both people's personal income and the profits of corporations. The tax rate scale automatically adjusts so that the 10-year rolling average budget is always balanced. Meaning, that when there is a deficit or a surplus, taxes will automatically adjust to accommodate. Absolutely no exceptions or "tax breaks" to anyone or any groups. Any corporation doing any business within the borders of the nation will be subject to this tax to the fullest extent - meaning every dollar earned in this country will be directly counted towards their income.

If you are referring to the infamous Northern Gateway Pipeline, then you are dead wrong about it being a "Canadian thing." Environment destruction on that scale affects the ecosystem of the entire world, even if the effects are not immedietly apparent. It worries me that so many Canadians are so ignorant and short-sighted as to believe that raping the land is somehow a GOOD idea.
I think building the pipeline would be good because it would create a lot of new job. Plus if they do build it they will have a load of safety precaution. I understand that we should be looking out for the environment as well but when unemployment is where it is I believe this would be for the better. I'm sorry I offended you or something I was just stating my opinion.
Enact mandatory pay cuts for ALL politicians and have their pay taxed. I am a firm believer in leading by example so they should be taxed too. The next day... "enjoy your new salaries, ladies and germs!!!!"
Yes, in the short term, it would be beneficial to SOME. But what about the native Inuits who don't want to see their ancestral lands defiled? What about the countless animals, some of them endangered, that would be displaced or even killed by the workers? What about the rest of the world, that would suffer as the ecosystem is thrown into chaos by the actions of a few selfish people? No good can come of this pipeline, and I hope that Canadian government realizes that before it is too late.

Well i assume a day mean 24 hours and not just the day time. I'm also assuming by run, you mean complete control seeing as that's what others have done. So in the first hour or 2 of my takeover I will need to make a few calls. First I will need to sets of very important people. First group will be a pyrotechnic team. The second team will be DJs of some kind. Team one will have the important job of setting entry fireworks. If I'm ruler for a day I need to enter in style. Team two will need to make music as I enter. Next up. I will need to get acquire a ring of some kind. Preferably one with a roof because it will be fight night. The fight will be between drake bell and Justin bieber. They seem to have a little thing and this would be a nice way to settle it. Now this would not waste my 24 hours so I will need more time to think of stuff.
