My headcanon has the changelings operate by sharing intelligence, literally. Chrysalis is the leader because she makes a good conduit for the "smart field", not because of her cunning or inheritance of the title--though, of course, no changeling will ever say she's undeserving out of respect for her. Would explain the total failure of the Canterlot Invasion, I think. Another little thing--Pinkie Pie is the daughter of the King in Yellow. Read Pink and Yellow, and you will KNOW the TRUTH! Some of my headcanons: Being immortal, as a member of the royal blood, can only be nullified if you marry/copulate with a chosen mate. Twily does not have royal blood. She is not immortal. Her royal bloodlessness is pretty obvious. She was just a student who have exceeded the standards of her academy leading her to be as Tia's student. Cadence has Shiny. She is not immortal. Whether or not Cadence has the royal blood is unclear. But still, her immortality is nullified because of Shiny. The Daughter of Cadence and Shiny, Skyla, will be immortal. Until Skyla finds a mate whom she'll marry and copulate with. Celestia and Luna do not have husbands. They are immortal. Celestia and Luna must have parents. Their Mom and Dad are not immortal because they are married and have copulated resulting to the birth of Celestia and Luna. This is backed up seeing as we cant find their parents in the show nor are they mentioned in any way. They have lived out their lives. If ever the husbands cheats, the wife will regain her immortality since there is no real love present in that relationship. Basically, love is the core soul of the bloodline. It is real, genuine, faithful love the continues the legacy of the Royal bloodline. Its kind of beautiful and poetic if you look at it. Would you give up your immortality to be with the one you love? Or would you uphold the family duty of overseeing and protecting your subjects despite being loveless? As for origins, The Royal sisters are no one special. They are just daughters who carry the burden of leadership through the power of elements (Which is inherited as well through bloodline). This means that there have been a lot of prince/princesses/kings/queens in the past. ------ Alicorns =/= power: Example: King Sombra. He was not an alicorn yet he possesed tremendous power. He was able to enslave the Crystal Empire. Queen Chrysallis: She was not an alicorn aswell. Yet she had under him an entire swarm ready to do her bidding. She even managed to out-power Celestia! That said, alicornhood is not a guarantee of power unless you are a member of the royal bloodline. ------ Starswirl: Well.. its already been explained in the show that Starswirl was Celestia's student who had no friends xD There's no need to elaborate on a fancy headcanon about him ------ The Elements of Harmony I would like to think that the Elements is the cause of a cataclysmic wide dilemma back when Equestria was young. Like Something near-apocalyptic happened that led to the formation of the Elements. As for their actual origin, I would like to think that the elements came from souls/spirits of ponies that represented the Element. Like they willingly let their souls be transmuted into the elements. I want to elaborate that even more but I think it'll become a fic rather than a headcanon xD
The only two Griffons seen in the series, Gilda and Gustav le Grand, have French-sounding names. Additionally, Gustav le Grand speaks with an obvious French accent. In the episode "Suited for Success," Fluttershy mentions "French haute couture," confirming that France is a real place somewhere outside of Equestria. In "The Cutie Pox," the cutie mark that gives Applebloom the ability to speak French is a fleur-de-lis, rather similar to the cutie mark of another well-known pony. All of this, and the fact that Fleur-De-Lis appears in Canterlot along with other high-society ponies, leads me to believe that the Griffon nation is called France, the native language of the Griffons is French, and Fleur-De-Lis is the Equestrian ambassador to France.
Rainbow Dash used to fight with her parents all the time, and she needed Gilda to fall back on. Gilda wasn't a jerk until Rainbow Dash stopped hanging out with her. Dash and Gilda shared a bond so strong that Gilda felt insecure when Rainbow matured enough to stand on her own
I don't tend to have too many headcanons, because I like to think about many ideas that possibly are mutually exclusive, so I just say I have interesting ideas. One such idea is that humans existed in Equestria long ago, before any of the ponies did or at least before the ponies came migrated to where modern day Equestria is. They were not a magically inclined race, but that didn't stop them because they invented amazing pieces of technology after amazing pieces of technology, some of which are still in Equestria today. Trains, Flying Machines (Pinkie Pie's), Twilight Brain Scanner, Vinyl's Turn Tables, etc. The reason I think it's humans and not, say, sentient dogs or something, is because these items tend to seem made for human use. That is to say, that Vinyl's turntable seems to be much more suited to human use than Earth pony use, though unicorns probably don't have a problem with it XD. And because it's cool.
