Hmm, my theory is that it's not possible for a community to exist without there being some conflict... Admittedly any conflict here will probably end in a ban, unless it goes through something like Skype and the sort. But I believe, the good will outweigh the bad in the end. And it certainly is worth it, to help others with their problems... I'd say the herd wouldn't break apart so easily, as a collective... But it's to be expected for conflicts and relationships to happen and people to share more personal stories, whether depressing or enjoyable, as people get to know each other better on the forums.
I come too Far as a Early brony of November 2010 to See the spirit of Bronyism to fall in the hands of Disharmony. Heh, Humans. Human beings tend to violence are a Disease. They are the cancer to this planet. They think too much and Feel to little. More then cleverness, We need Kindness and Gentleness. Without these elements, the world will turn a violent place and all hope will be lost. I Feel the same here, Vinyl. The Real world is a horrible place with corruption and Violence. I normally Escape to my mind and live in my Fantasy world in my head where at least i know where peace is really at. Heres a Video That can relate to this post. I was kinda hoping someone would say something like this. ------> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WibmcsEGLKo <------ This Video will make you Cry and Smile and to Be inspire on your thoughts of this world and the states it's in. To everypony Here. We need to take all the sorrow of what the world does to us and and Throw it away. Happiness is the True key worth living in this world.
I'm going to outright say that I believe that Sorou and Sunburn have about the right idea - this is a community based on openness and friendship. When you put that level of trust in eachother, your demons inevitably come out. There really isn't a problem with us if we're marked by the fact that we trust eachother with our problems and try to help eachother through them, though, is there? Of course, we have to be careful not to drown ourselves when we try to pull eachother out of the water. It's no good to anyone to wreck yourself helping someone else. Applejack can attest to that. If it gets too heavy, take a breather. The door won't be locked when you're up to coming back.
I didn't go anywhere. I've been posting less, but that's because of: EPR duties Depression due to the whole murder thing A loss of caring for a lot of topics of discussion here. I've still been here and seen everything that's gone on. I appreciate you understand my situation though. As for my general opinion, I just think it's worth reminding everyone what this place is. It's a pony forum. I appreciate that the nature of the community does instill a sense of trust and what not, but esentially this is still a pony forum, not a place for drama and arguments. It's not even about taking the morals of the show, being kind and sharing the magic of friendship or whatever, it's simply bringing negativity to a place that doesn't need it. I came here because I wanted to talk about ponies. I actually remember saying to I_Ride_Ponies in real life that we should look for a forum catering for bronies, where we can talk about My Little Pony in a place that isn't dominated by little girls and the like. I understand the average user here is a young man or teenager, but that doesn't make this any less related to ponies. Make friends, talk off topic, do whatever yes, but don't turn the basis of this entire forum into a place of angst and drama. And to those who are saying the world is a horrible place, it's also a beautiful place. You only see what you want to see. Don't feel like being a positive person makes you naive in any way, just as being negative doesn't make you see the world any clearer.
This is half-honest. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoptofKbQ04&feature=related Brony haters have literally nothing to do with this. If you want to keep inventing enemies that don't exist on these boards so you can just be angry about them, go right ahead. The real enemies are on the inside. Only losers who keep wanting to shift their problems to other people, and in this case, totally vague and possibly imaginary strangers on the internet, would blame this mess on the brony-hater, who, if he exists, is just as miserable as you are. I have been saying this for months and nobody wants to dignify my pleas. I've said it in the site suggestions and I have said it in threads in the general discussion. This depressive talk is the cancer of everypony.com While I wouldn't give the so-called "nice" people too much credit, this is accurate. No, no, no. You put fake in, you get fake out. You are dealing with people who are already unstable messes who feed off random sympathy on the internet to stroke their egos since they have exhausted everyone in their own lives and probably have no friends. If you are unreasonably sympathetic and load them with praise and nice words, they will come back again and again, and new people will join to get the same treatment. That is exactly what has been happening. It is an orgy of phony emotional stroking and I don't want any part in it. You. Don't. Say. No, it's not, but I bet you feel better thinking that it is. If the world were a great place, which it is, you wouldn't have any reasonable way to justify your unhappy existence. Duly noted. Really, enough of this crap dude. And someone is peeling away at the scab of brushed-under contradictions... Someone who gets it. Luprony for ruler of Equestria. /rant
I really don't know where the spirit is going.....I ask myself many times where it's all gone, everyday, I see depressed ponies... I see ponies hurt, and I just wish I knew how to end it all so every pony could be happy.... Sometimes I think that I'm the one causing it... I just don't really know....
... Of course, true to the spirit of keeping in heart that I might be wrong, and after reading Manehattanite and Luprony's posts, there's always the possibility that we're taking this all a little seriously and raising our expectations too high because of the lessons and idealism inherent in My Little Pony. I still don't personally see the issue in the trust implied in sharing our issues, but it might be silly to think we're cracking as a community because of this. And Core, don't even. You're fine.
I think it also has something to do with expectations of the next season. And, if you think about it...the "teaser" Chaos/Discord eps were pretty serious too. The mood set by the show would set the mood of the viewers...IMHO. I do think that letting the Pony haters not get to us is most needed. If you like ponies, be true to that. Who cares what other people think? Everypony has a safe community to come to and talk about the show and being a brony. I'm sure everything will right it self when the new eps roll out. ^_^ My sister hates MLP, but i don't trash her for it (i do, however, play pony music while i drive. i find her humming "winter round up" *cackles*)
Oh, and for the record, i have come across pony haters irl besides my sis. I just laugh them off and tell them it's a good show with good writing and good art and before they judge it on the previous generations, they should give it a try. One wary person went so far as to attend an anime convention this past weekend and decided last minute to go to the MLP panel there. They came away understanding why I like it so much, and wanting to watch it too.
I'm new to the forum and have been here less than a whole day. And well, I'm not sure what the issues really are here but I'll play my part in this discussion to let out what I believe and see. When I posted my hello to the site, people came and greeted me very openly just like long lost friends who I forgot about and had found me again. The brony community has a beautiful sense of friendship and openness to all fellow bronies as influenced by what the show has taught us: the magic of friendship. Bronies have come to understand more than just what friendship is, they have learned what it could be and more. For me, as I re-watched the first two episodes of season 1, a small tear trickled down my cheek. And then I just went and started to think... why the hell did I start to feel this way about a little kids show? Then I realized that I had learned something from the entire show. That friendship is something that can overcome all. This was showcased to me last night when I was about to leave my hang out place with my girlfriend since she needed to get home, one of our friends was silently crying in the corner. When I approached and tried to talk to him, he just let it all out and just cried. We consoled him and helped cheer him back up until he was ready to get on home and was laughing at all the jokes and meme references I was cracking open. At that moment, I saw that friendship is amazing. It can cure sadness and help people live a better life. Friends are like family, just ones that aren't blood related to you. True friends, like loyal Rainbow Dash, will never abandon you for anything. True friends, like honest Apple Jack, will never lie to you and will assure you that everything's going to be alright. True friends, like generous Rarity, will be willing to devote their precious time to you because they are willing to give it up for you. True friends, like kind Fluttershy, will always be there to lend a helping hand. True friends, like LOL-ing Pinkie Pie, will always seek out to brighten your day and put a smile on your face. And you... you can be your own Twilight Sparkle who unites them all and makes the union you have magical! That is what I have learned from the show and the fandom. I don't care if there are haters and trolls out there, I'll love and tolerate them all the same. Violence begets violence and trolling, well, begets more trolling. So I say we liven it up and bring back the brony spirit! Sorry if this post is TL;DR in your minds, I just had to get it out there as a new member who doesn't want the herd to die just yet.
I don't think we'll be dying just yet. :33 That's what I think is special about friendship- it's the bonds that you choose, unbound by trivial things like blood and flesh. As long as we can try and have the will to keep it going, I don't think that the happiness and friendliness of this place will die just yet. We just went through a small depression, and I'm gonna make sure it gets better this time. >:U
I guess the staff (or specifically me) is to blame for a lot of this, I've been and still am a little busy pursuing other ambitions (which perhaps I should share with you all?) - I've hardly forgotten Everypony but I think a steady flow of events, competitions and the like would do wonders for the site.. Something to break up the forum drama and remind people what we're here for! I'd also like to do a few other things... Namely tell everyone about myself, I barely know myself but you guys ands gals barely know me at all, when you think about it.. :0 Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
@ Turk the Pony: wow, man you scared me for moment capsizing F in "Feel" (Feel is my real life name so for a moment I tough you knew my real life name) @ Lupr: exactly what was point of my first post here. people who are depressed: help us help you by looking things more bright. I live in real world as well, and I can say it isn't that bad at all if you're looking from right angle and looking at right things. don't focus on negatives. @Manehattanite: I'm always 100% honest. @ Trollie Pie: this kind of brony spirit was what kept me on this site. This kind of spirit is what was when I joined. I want to see more of that here.
@Yetione: Oh I assure you. The brony spirit is strong within this one. LOL I'm sure the admins are fully capable of reviving the spirit that was once in this forum, a spirit that I have yet to encounter. Hehe
I still believe that if we hold true to the lessons of the show, then we'll be able to keep the brony spirit alive. At the risk of sounding like a religious nut, I have argued that this is why religion is still needed today. Laws only encourage us to do the right thing, but we as humans need examples to look up to and emulate in order to do the good thing. Sure, our tendencies to hate and disrespect those who disagree with us may be strong, but if we do our best to live like we're ponies (personality-wise, at least) then we may be able to temper our natural tendencies with love and tolerance, as the show would have it's characters do.
I don't really think it's up to the mods, though. While them doing stuff and distracting us from our problems with more events and things could help, we have to make an effort for it, don't we?
After all, what would humanity be without opinions? If everyone had the same opinion, would we still have these conversations? Would we ALL be bronies? Would we all hate the show? No. We'd live in a gray world filled with unpleasantness I don't like that.
I can't live without color, I need it. That would be one boring world, everyone doing the same thing.
