Dusty was up early. He made a fire outside the tent, frying up some bread to make toast. "Butter sure comes in handy when you need it." Dusty chuckled to himself as the crisp smell of toast filled and lingered through the through the trees.
By time Faux woke up the wolves were already gone, probably hunting Faux thought. Faux left her den and the sweet smell of toast surrounded her. "That smells delightful"
Dark is awoken by the smell of bread getting turned to toast, his iris now a deep red, & he comes out the tent.
Dusty smiles to Faux then turns and sees Dark leave his tent. "Howdy everypony, how'd ya'll sleep?" Dusty was just finishing the toast, sprinkling small amounts of powdered sugar on them and setting them 2 to a plate.
Faux yawned and stretch her legs, "its been awhile since I've slept in a den" Faux took a seat and lazily sprinkled a bit of cinnamon before taking a bite.
Dusty laughed softly, different from his usual chuckle, more caring. "Well my tent has 4 little 'zipper' rooms, you could've had your privacy and slept warmly, but ah understand." He sat down and took a bite out of his toast, chasing it with water from a canteen. "Ah'm just glad we made it through the first day." Dusty nervously said aloud.
Faux finished her toast, "ya almost didn't.." She rolled her shoulder ignoring the pain that shot through.
Calla burst through the bushes and snarled, a cougar was just behind Faux and Dusty about to attack. The cat hissed starteling Faux and Dusty, the cat leaped at Calla and she easily dodged. The cat roared and Calla attacked snapping at the cat's paws making it flee with terror. "I hate cats." Calla barked angrily.
Dusty stood there eyes open wide the toast hanging in his mouth. "Ah guess a thank you is in order." Dusty jokenly said.
Calla watched the woods for a second making sure that flea bag doesn't come back. "I would think you ponies would be more careful." Calla turned away and sniffed the making sure there wasn't anymore danger.
Faux nearly choked on her toast, "Why didn't I hear anything?" Faux looked to Calla fully awake and alert now.
Dusty stratched the back of his head. "Maybe its a different kind of wilds to you. Ah reckon your not use to it yet." Dusty tried to come up with a better reason, but none came to mind.
Calla eyed Faux curiosily. "How did that work? Your so small and their so big!" Calla tipped her head to the side and waited for Faux's story.
Dusty set his now empty plate down, also curious about Faux's story. "Do tell Ms. Faux, ah'm a tad curious myself."
"Well I was still rather young and I had just lost my parents," Faux looked to the ground, "I had also just met Kenji and I was exploreing in the woods like I normally did but this time I encountered a cougar. It attacked me but luckily Kenji was there to help me and we managed to escape untouched but at the last minute the cougar jumped and claw my shoulder." Faux turned to reveal several claw marks on her right shoulder. "That's how I gained this."
Dusty gave a hint of concern in his voice. "Ah'm just glad your still here Ms. Faux. Ah'd be rather upset if you couldn't come on this trip with us."
"You took on a cougar.. by yourself?" Calla couldn't believe the story she just heard, no way could a small pony like her take on a cat. Calla shook her head in disbelief and lowered to the ground and rested her head on her paws.
Faux nodded, "Better believe cause its true." Faux patted Calla's head and nearly got her hoof bit off. "Jeez sorry," she mumbled.
