For ease of use, just call it the Bible Belt.

Florida: The only state where the more north you are, the more southern it gets.

OP: The South is known to be too conservative, too unhealthy (we have the highest obesity rate), too under-educated (Oklahoma & Mississippi mainly), too religious (I see it as a VERY bad thing), and most often too prejudice (since the South has a history of racism & homophobia). I hate a lot of the conservative and prejudice associated with the South, and how we are most likely obese, christianity-obsessed, and uneducated/illiterate (all of these are very often co-morbid with each other). But us Southerners are often more humble, appreciative of what we get, less likely are going to take things for granted, less overly busy, able to enjoy more, and are often (but not all the time) much more friendlier (people from the northeast (mainly NYC and Boston) are often very rude and unfriendly). One of my friends from the Boston area is VERY rude and mean, and she often pisses us off (I am the only one who accepts her most of the time).

All areas have their pros and cons. A lot of times I hate living in the South cause of the occasional racism and homophobia (being a black transgender). And I can see how we are the butt of the other regions criticism (often I empower them). But we have some good qualities too, we have the best accent (my accent is VERY southern, and a lot of non-Southerners think it's a wonderful accent), we have great music coming from here (blues, country, & jazz mainly), and we have great slang and a neat culture. I know if I talked to people in Seattle if I move there, they will automatically know I am a Southern from either my accent, my personality, or that I constantly play country music and an acoustic.

I'm southern and personally, I can't stand the southern accent. I've fought long and hard all my life not to have one. :derpe: Different strokes I guess. I tend to associate it with those stereotypes of the south you listed.

I just hate that whenever someone interviews a southerner, they find the most ass backwards hick they can and make a fool of them.

Ooh this one irks me so. There's this one show called "Texas Car [something, forgot]", the narrator has the most terrible accent and uses a whole bunch of old country sayings, while meanwhile the guys the show is actually about are just normal guys. JUST SHUT THAT NARRATOR UP AND IT'S A NORMAL SHOW! *random rant*
