I would've posted this on February 16, 2013 sometime after the Season 3 finale got done premiering on t.v. but now that sometime has passed not much time of course but still sometime I figured that I would finally get it out of the way, ok so I noticed that through all the Season's of this show that have aired on t.v so far the Season finale episode or in the case of Season 2 since we all know that was a two parter has been my favorite episode of the Season and I was wondering has it been like that for anybody/ pony else?
I had to read that entire post like three times before I could comprehend it. Consider punctuation next time to make it easier on the reader. It really hasn't been like that for me at all. The first finale was fun, but I don't think it was any way near the best episode of the season. I loved both the premiere and finale of season 2 - the stakes are higher, the music is more dramatic, there are more emotional moments and, since they are both two-parters, the writers have more time to tell their story, and thus it feels more thorough. I think both Discord and Chrystalis are great villains, and you can feel how much work there is put into them. I really didn't like the third season finale. It was very 'meh' to me, and that's just not good enough for a finale. It needs to have you hyped for the next season. The episode was reeeeal purty, but the pacing problems it has were just too vast and it just feels incomplete. (Which it is. Meghan McCarthy considers the episode the first part of a three-parter.)
I also don't think it was the best episode of the season. I do think however that it did what a season finale is supposed to do for the viewers, like bringing them back next season, making people question the idea of the finale, and show them a peek into whats possible in the future. I think that the episode was a little quick and to the point but that's the idea I guess. I would say it's a little less wow than season two's finale. Just because I feel most people will be wondering what and how that even was possible for Twilight to become a Alicorn.
I still think Best Night Ever is best Season 1 episode, Canterlot Wedding part 1 and 2 are best Season 2 episodes and Magical Mystery Cure is best Season 3 episode.
People attach a lot of significance to the beginning or end of something, rather than items in the middle. The ending, in particular, will likely be what you have the most recent exposure to, and thus will be easily recalled when discussing the subject. Thus it isn't unusual for writers to save some of their best ideas for season/series finales when they're writing for TV. Although I would disagree with your premise, as I consider Sleepless in Ponyville to be the superior episode this season. Nevertheless, the point stands.
I suppose they make it the best for the season finale, to make it stand out among the rest of the episodes, an example of this would be Magical Mystery Cure, the majority of the show is a musical.
ha, magical mystery cure best episode of the season I hated the episode, it was rushed, scrudged together, and completely trainwrecked with twiliacorn
The finale is when they take the biggest risks I think, and whether or not you believe that they always pay-off, it is nice to see a change in stakes and whatnot
Finale is sometimes synonymous with the climax which is usually placed somewhere between the halfway point and the end of a story or iteration of a series. Just like authors of literary series - TV series producers usually save their best work for the last episode to create a sense of suspense and want for the next iteration. Cliffhangers are often additionally used to exaggerate the effect. The seasons themselves are usually themed around that finale and serve as a graduated buildup to the main event.
