"I think we can make this work," she told him, looking over at him for a moment. "What do you think? Will it make you uncomfortable?"
She sat on her side, looking over at him. Their relative sizes complemented each other, and they were able to lie on the bedroll without touching each other. She laid back tentatively, careful not to touch him.
He didn't seem to notice, pulling up the blanket and closing his eyes. He was lying on his back, his hands on his stomach.
She looked over at him for a moment before turning on her side, her back to him as she curled up and closed her eyes. If he looked, he would see the small peaks of her vertebrae shifting under her skin on the back of her neck. He would also see a trail of freckles tracing a line along her shoulders before disappearing under her shirt.
He didn't see, already drifting off to sleep. However, about an hour later he turned over and pulled her close, her back resting against his chest as he curled around her.
She had mostly drifted off to sleep by that point, but she opened her eyes blearily, tipping her head back to look up at him before settling back against him, closing her eyes again.
He stayed like this for the night, and barely would have moved come morning. The sun rose steadily, and the lake shimmered under the light.
She woke sleepily, confused as to why she was so warm for a moment before she glanced down, noticing his hands. She raised an eyebrow curiously before flushing deeply, sneaking a glance over her shoulder at him.
He was fast asleep, his expression peaceful and mouth closed. She would hear the water lapping at the shore.
She softened, watching him for a moment before standing up, pulling up his blanket on him before walking over to the shore, her blonde hair falling around her shoulders as she looked up at the slow sunrise.
The sky was a light blue and the water almost sparkled from the light. The nearby shops were waking up as well.
She looked around for a moment before slipping off her shoes, rolling up her pant legs and walking into the water, watching as it rippled around her. She walked along the shore, the water reflecting her image as the sun rose over the horizon.
It was still chilly in the morning, but not as bad as night time. The water was quite clear, and she could see the sand and shells easily.
She noticed a particularly nice shell, its peach surface reminiscent of the sunrise. It had a nice shine to it, and she picked it up before returning to Zerras' sleeping form, settling back down next to him.
She was smiling at him, her eyes soft in the morning light as she settled down He was still curled around her spot and she tilted her head. "Morning, Z."
She laughed, flushing a little. "Not too long. You were holding me again." She gestured to her waist. "That thing people do. Spooning, I think it's called."
