She blinked, looking up at him with a sudden flush. “What?! No! That’s not what it was.” She paused before shaking her head. “Not that you’re not cute. That’s not what I’m saying. Not that I think you’re cute! I just...” She sighed in exasperation, running her free hand through her hair. “It was just the right thing to do. You don’t just leave someone who’s been abandoned.”
He laughed aloud, clearly delighted. It was clear and warm sound "Don't worry, Juni. I'm just messing with you."
She squinted at him, the flush still very evident on her face before she looked ahead, falling silent for a moment. “You’re not funny,” she muttered playfully under her breath.
They walked until the end of the day, where they set up camp. They started again the next day. In the afternoon, they would see the city appear in the distance.
She squinted, uncertain if it was a mirage of some sorts. Her hand was in his, her hair pulled back in its trademark ponytail, and she had caught a little bit of sun on her face. “Is that it...?”
“Yeah,” she said, pulling him forward. “That means we’re one step closer to getting you your magic back.”
She was moving quite quickly, her hand in his. “And then you’ll be able to come back to the farm, or something, and we’ll figure out your next steps.”
He relaxed slightly, nodding. "Yeah." The city they approached didn't necessarily have a castle. It was multiple makeshift shacks, some stacked on top of each other and others more spread out. On the bottom was the shop, but higher up was houses. There were colorful banners hung everywhere and lanterns. Clearly they were celebrating something. In the center if the kingdom was a large fountain.
She considered this for a moment before shrugging. “Maybe we should set up camp before looking around?”
