He would feel her lean up and kiss the back of his neck softly, her hands slipping around his waist. "Better?"
He stayed still a little longer before pulling the cups off carefully. "They're ready. It's a little hot."
She opened her eyes, crawling to sit next to him, resting her head on his shoulder as she took the cup. Her eyes widened and she whimpered a little, setting it on the ground before flapping her hands. "Ow. Owowowowowow."
She nodded, avoiding his gaze so he wouldn't see the tears in her eyes. "It's alright," she said hastily. "I'm just stupid."
They were already reddening, but that was to be expected since she had touched metal cups right out of the fire. "Yes, I'm fine," she said quickly, pulling her hands away.
She laughed a little, leaning her forehead against his temple. "It's okay, sweet boy. It's not your fault."
She beamed at him, nudging his head gently with her own. "What about water?" she asked. "Can you teach me any water magic?"
She sighed a little, her shoulders slumping. She lightly tapped the cup and, seeing that it was cooler, she picked it up gingerly.
