This is my fanfic, I've worked on it for a few days now and had ponies from the EPR read it and give me their feedback. This is the final copy. This story involves the World of Warcraft. It's a Crossover/Adventure/and possible Gridmark in the later chapters. The ponies are thrown into the unknown and with the help of their new firends, they must find a way back to Equestria. [HR][/HR] WoW: The Other Mare’s Tale.By Sydra. Prologue Life for ponies can always change unexpectedly. With making of new friends, or just a new adventure everyday. One event, however, was about to change six ponies’ lives before they knew what hit them in the flank. It was a quiet night in Ponyville. All the unicorns, pegasi, and earth ponies were all asleep and cozy in their beds. Off in the distance stood the Everfree, the forest of mysteries and wonder. Ponies are rarely seen entering the Everfree and it is said some never return . As mysterious as this forest may seem, nothing could be more mysterious than what was about to happen........ Suddenly, the Everfree erupted in a loud Bang, a deep rumble and then a sudden flash..... …..Leaving a dim glow in the distant part of the forest. Ch. 1The Rift. Fluttershy couldn’t help but wonder why all the animals were going crazy. She tried in all of her power to settle them down, yet nothing seemed to work. The animals soon barged out of her house and into the Everfree. “Oh! Come back! Please don’t run away!” said Fluttershy hoping the animals would listen. She stopped and thought for a moment. Maybe that rumbling that came from the Everfree must have startled them. Let alone the flash. She thought for a few more moments on what could of caused it. Her thoughts were interrupted by another flash coming from the Everfree. What ever it was, Fluttershy had to go in there and get all the animals that ran away back. She approached the Everfree. You can do this Fluttershy, she thought as she walked into the forest. All I need to do is get the animals and get out. She continued to walk into the forest for about fifteen minutes, calling out every animal she could think of that escaped. A sudden noise came from a nearby bush. Fluttershy jumped and screamed at the noise. To her surprise though, Angel came hoping out of the bushes and looked at Fluttershy with a serious look. “Oh, it’s you Angel!” Fluttershy said with a small smile. “You scared me there for a moment.” she said as she picked up Angel and put her on her back. “Come on, lets go find the other animals.” said Fluttershy reassuringly. She was about to continue when a strange light off in the distance caught her attention. It was an eerie glow but yet she found herself attracted to it. She started walking towards it when she felt Angel thumping on her head. She look up at him as he shook his head from side to side clearly telling her “No.” “Oh relax Angel, I’m just going to see what the light is.” Said Fluttershy with some confidence. She continued onto to see what the light was. Maybe I can see who’s doing this and tell them to stop disrupting the animals. She thought more about what the light could be. A unicorn practicing magic? No, no magic spell could be that bright. Maybe it was a special item that a pegasus pony might have dropped. Then again, why would a pegasus pony be up this late a night? Especially in the Everfree. What ever it is I have to find out. She came up to a bunch of bushes guarding her view. That’s weird. Bushes don’t grow that high, even in the Everfree. Fluttershy didn’t know what to expect on the other side except for a light. Angel jumped off her and ran behind a tree shaking like a leaf. “Relax Angel, I’m sure it’s nothing to be scared of...” said Fluttershy as she poked her head through the bushes. She almost shrieked in shock at what she saw. Two Figures standing side by side holding up one arm each in front of what looked like to be a blue lightning cloud with sparks pulsing out of it. Yet this one seemed to be clearer and infinite. But she wasn’t surprised by that. She was more surprised by the figures. The two looked like to be like lizards. Yet at the same time she kept seeing dragon parts along with them. They stood on four legs, had the body of a lizard, had scales running down their spines, but that was just the lower part of their body. Their upper part looked like to be a dragon’s body with arms. Their heads looked like the snout of a dragon. Both of the figures were wearing hoods over top of their heads. Fluttershy couldn’t help but make a quiet squeal.... No good...one of them looked back at Fluttershy while still holding up his arm the a strange aura coming out of his hand and into the Light. She looked at him in the eyes...the eyes, they had a single colour to them. Blue. The eyes glowed as and seemed to have no expression in them. Fluttershy, realizing she was caught, stepped out of the bushes and in between them. The two dragon like things were defiantly larger than she was. At least three times her size! Fluttershy had to say something. “Uhm, excuse me...” said Fluttershy shyly. The two seemed to ignored her as they continued channeling into the light source. “Excuse me...” said Fluttershy more loudly. No response. “Excuse me!” Said Fluttershy dementedly. One of them glanced down at her and snorted. “Uhm...I was just...uhm...wondering if you could please stop. You’re causing the animals to be disturbed.” One of them chuckled at the statement. Fluttershy felt a little bit offended by this. You can do this, she thought to herself. You’ve faced a big dragon before you can do it again. “So please if you could just stop fo-” Her words were interrupted by a loud THUD. She turned around and screamed at what she saw. This creature looked like the other two standing in front of the light source, but much bigger than both of them. He was holding a banner. Fluttershy looked at the banner. On the banner the icon looked like a circle with spikes on the upper half and blank on the bottom. The upper half had a half the circle cut out. the bottom half was filled. On covering the circle appeared to be a hammer with spikes below to what appeared to be a place to hold it. “What’s this?” said the creature. Fluttershy whimpered at the big creature. “I see, brave enough to come out here? Yet shy enough to not say anything.” said the creature with a chuckle. “This world will be easy to take over after all.” Fluttershy jumped in sudden realization of what it said. Her look changed from fearful to questionable. “Take...over the world?” demanded Fluttershy. “Why, yes.” stated the creature. “Your world. All just part of the master’s plan.” “What would you want with our world?” Asked Fluttershy. “Oh, The Twilight’s Hammer could always use some more resources to help the master back in our world.” said the creature with another chuckle. “Your world?” said Fluttershy now a little bit confused. “Hey boss!” said one of the little creatures. “You should send that one through, that way she’ll know by what we mean.” The big creature looked at the little one. “Well if you say so. No harm in doing so what so ever.” said the bigger one with a grin. The big creature took the bottom of his banner and scooped up Fluttershy with it. Fluttershy screamed as she was picked up. She was so confused and scared by what was going to happen that she just couldn’t move. The big creature then pulled up the end of the banner until they were face to face. “Hope you enjoy Azeroth.” He said with a evil grin as he shoved the bottom of the banner into the Light. There was a bang, a rumble, and a flash.... …........All followed up by a scream from Fluttershy. - - - “Spike, have you found the book yet?” said Twilight as she searched the shelves of her library looking for a book. “No, you didn’t even say what book i was supposed to be looking for.” said Spike with a sigh. “I need that book on ‘Super Natural Causes’.” demanded Twilight. She continued to pull out every book she could see, picking them up with her magic and levitating them in front of her to see the titles. “Why do you even want this book?” asked Spike. “Is it about those noises and flashes from the Everfree?” “Exactly Spike.” said Twilight with a grin. “Well it’s the Everfree. Weird stuff always happens in there.” stated Spike as he yawned. “Besides, that kept me up what ever it was.” “Well this was something different. I have to find out what it was.” said Twilight with eagerness. “Hey, it’s a beautiful day. Why don’t you go outside and I’ll go up stairs to sle- I mean, to look for the book, just in case it’s up there.” said Spike as he started up the stairs. Twilight just nodded as she continued to look through the shelves for the book. She spent at least five minutes before she heard a knock at the door. A familiar voice outside spoke. “Twilight, are you there?” asked the voice. “Yes!” said Twilight loudly. “I’ll be there in a moment.” The door then opened with Rarity walking through. She looked around at all the books scattered all over the floor and gave a slight gasp. “Good heavens Twilight. Your house is a wreck.” stated Rarity. “Yes, yes I know. I’m looking for a book.” replied Twilight. “Well, never-mind those silly books! Have you seen Fluttershy at all today?” asked Rarity. “She was supposed to meet me at the Spa for our weekly get together.” “Well she’s probably out taking care of the animals after what happened last night.” stated Twilight as she continued to pull books off the shelves. “Heavens no!” said Rarity. “She would never miss our get together! It worries me!” “What does? That she’s probably busy?” said Twilight smartly with a smirk. Rarity just looked at her as if she was some sort of idiot. She was about to turn around and leave when Twilight stated, “Aha! I found it!” “Now that I have the book, I can go into the Everfree and find out what those strange occurrences were.” said Twilight with Confidence. “Good!” said Rarity. “Maybe we can stop by Fluttershy’s house together and see if she’s there!” “Sorry Rarity I don’t really think tha-” she was cut short by Spike suddenly appearing. “Yes we should!” he stated firmly. “If Rarity needs our help, we will help her!” Twilight looked at him with another smirk. “I thought you were up stairs ‘looking for the book.’” said Twilight. “I was! But Rarity needs our help! We should go help find Fluttershy!” said Spike firmly again. Twilight sighed, “Alright.” “Good let’s go then!” exclaimed Rarity. - - - The two ponies began to walk down the streets of Ponyville. After a few minutes of hearing Rarity ramble on about a customer she had the other day, she had lost track of her thoughts and were they were going. “...But I simple looked at his design, and it was all wrong!” said Rarity. Twilight continued to ignore her as Spike sat on her back intrigued and listening to Rarity’s story. “No!” he said. “But it’s true!” she said with a whine. “I never seen anything as hideous as that.” Twilight, not paying attention to where she was going suddenly stopped. She realized she was so distracted by Rarity that they stopped in front of Sugarcube corner. She looked over at Rarity with a “keep it low” face. Rarity nodded. They were about to take a step when the door flung open and out came Pinkie, glomping both of them to the ground. “Hiya guys!” said Pinkie happily. “Uhm, hey Pinkie.” said Twilight with a unsure smile. “Are you guys going to the Fluttershy’s house then into the Everfree?” asked Pinkie with a happy look. The two unicorns looked at each other with puzzled faces. How did Pinkie know where they were going? “Uhm, yes.” said Rarity. “How did you know?” “Oh! Well i saw a big flash in the sky last night and it was soooo blue but yet it looked white at the same time and it was so pretty I felt like I was about to throw a party for it-” “Pinkie...” said Twilight. “-But then I realized to myself that ‘A flash can’t come to a party!’ So then I was going to throw a party because I felt like it! But then I heard a low rumbling and it almost made me jump!” “Pinkie...” said Twilight more loudly. “So then i thought to myself that maybe you guys would like to go see it and I knew you were but I didn’t realize that you guys were going to Fluttershy’s house so then I-” “PINKIE!” shouted Twilight. “Yes Twilight?” asked Pinkie with a smile. “How did you know?” asked Twilight. “Know about what silly filly?” asked Pinkie. “Abou- oh never-mind.” said Twilight with a sigh. She looked over at Rarity as Rarity looked back and shrugged. “Oh, ok!” exclaimed Pinkie. “Well, I’m coming with you guys!” Twilight nodded. She still didn’t know how Pinkie knew about them going. “One...two...three!” Another familiar voice yelled out. All three ponies turned around to see a cyan colored pegasus and a orange earth pony Hoof wrestling on a table across the street. Both of them looked evenly matched. One of the hooves went one way, and then the other pony pushed it back. It seems like it would be a tie, until the cyan pony thought of something. She reached under the table with her right bottom hoof and wrapped around the leg of the table. She then yanked it towards her. It worked! The Earth pony was caught off guard by the sudden shift of the table and the cyan pony took her hoof and slammed it down, causing her to win. “That ain’t fair! Ya’ll cheated!” Exclaimed Apple Jack. “Cheated? As if!” said Rainbow Dash with confidence. “I’m just stronger than you! You’re just to afraid to admit it.” She said with a smirk. “Care for another match then? Ah reckon you couldn’t do it without using those little hooves of yours!” exclaimed Apple Jack. “Ha! Bring, it, on!” said Rainbow Dash putting her elbow down on the table waiting for Apple Jack to do the same. “My pleasure!” said Apple Jack as she did the same. The two ponies started going at it again. It was evenly matched... again. The other three ponies decided to walk up to them. The two didn’t seem to break their concentration. There was silence for a moment until Rarity spoke up. “Oh will you two stop for a moment and help us?” she asked rudely. “Sure..Sure thing!” said Apple Jack struggling to win. “Just as soon as ah finish beating this little cheater!” “Ha, In your dreams!” said Rainbow Dash also struggling. The two ponies looked like they were going to give up, until Apple Jack used all of her strength and slammed Rainbow’s hoof down on the other side of the table. “HA!” exclaimed Apple Jack. “Pfft! What ever.” said Rainbow Dash as she looked away disappointed. “Now, what can we help ya’ll with?” asked Apple Jack. “Well-” said Twilight, but she was quickly interrupted. “Fluttershy has gone missing!” said Pinkie. “Missing?!” exclaimed both Rainbow Dash and Apple Jack. “Yes!” said Rarity. “She hasn’t been seen all day and she didn’t show up at the Spa either!” The two looked at each other. Fluttershy? Missing? It simply didn’t add up to them. “Now now girls. Fluttershy couldn’t have gone missing.” said Twilight. “She’s probably out taking care of the animals after what happened last night.” “Yah mean all the flashing and rumblin last night?” asked Apple Jack. “Yes! Why, we’re just on our way to see if she’s at her house.” stated Rarity. “Well, If Fluttershy has gone missing, then this Pegasus isn’t standing around to let her be missing!” exclaimed Rainbow Dash. “Let’s go girls!” she said as she flew off towards Fluttershy’s house. “Wait! Rainbow Dash!” yelled Twilight, but Rainbow Dash was already gone. “Come on girls! Let’s go!” said Apple Jack as she ran off with towards Fluttershy’s house with the other ponies following. Moments later they all arrived at Fluttershy’s house. The door was wide open and it sounded like there was no animal inside, or outside. In-fact, there wasn’t a single animal to be found! Rainbow Dash stepped out of Fluttershy’s house with a disappointed look. The other ponies looked at her with a wondering smile? She nodded from side to side. “I searched everywhere. Fluttershy or her animals aren’t in the house.” she said. “Then where could have she gone?” asked Twilight. ‘ “OH! I know where she went!” said Pinkie as she stood by the Everfree looking at the ground. The other ponies didn’t notice her when she snuck off. They all went over to see what she was looking at and looked in the spot. There was nothing there. They all sat in silence until Twilight spoke up. “Uhm Pinkie, what are we looking at?” asked Twilight. “At her hoof prints silly! There’s a track leading into the forest!” exclaimed Pinkie happily. The other ponies continued to stare at the ground. Nothing was there. They all looked at each other and shrugged. Pinkie then started to walk in a path with her head down looking at the ground. The other ponies began to follow her as they went into the Everfree. They all continued to follow Pinkie as she stared at the ground as if she was onto something. “Pinkie, I don’t see why you’re doing this. THERE IS NOTHING THERE!” shouted Rarity. “Shhh! I’m following her tracks!” said Pinkie harshly not breaking her concentration. The others looked at Rarity and shrugged again as they continued walking. For some time it was silent. Until a loud snore caused everypony to jump, except Pinkie who continued to follow the tracks. The snore came again. Twilight looked over her shoulder and sighed in relief. It was just Spike who everypony seem to forgot about that he was there with them. Not paying attention, Twilight bumped into Pinkie who suddenly stopped. They all stood in front of giant bushes, bigger than the ones around them that blocked their view. On the other side was a dim glow. The ponies stood there for a minute until Pinkie said a little bit scared. “She was here...” she said with a sudden frown. The other ponies didn’t know what to do until Apple Jack spoke up. “Well then! Might as well see what’s on the other side. Perhaps she’s still there just restin!” she said with confidence. All the ponies decided to go through the bush together. As they stepped through they were all surprised. What stood in front of them was a transparent blue could with sparks coming out of it. The ponies were stunned by the glow. This was something Un-natural to them. “What is it?” asked Rainbow Dash. Nopony spoke up. They were all silent for a while until Twilight said something. “A Rift.” she said softly “A what?” they all asked. “A Rift. A portal that can connect two worlds. Nopony knows what’s on the other side.” said Twilight with a gulp. “You...you don’t think she...” said Rarity, afraid to finish. “She did...” said Pinkie with another frown. Apple Jack was about to speak up when they heard a noise that came from the tall bushes that they came out of. A loud roar followed up by a hiss startled them and made them jump. “snghf..ughn...what?” said Spike sleepily was he started to wait up. A tall hooded figure about three times the size of the ponies came out from behind the bushes. He stood there and grinned. “Wah...what did you do with Fluttershy?!” yelled Rainbow Dash. The figure just chuckled as he drew a sword and slashed at the ponies. All of them screamed and expected pain. But they all looked at each other and none of them was cut or hurt. The figure then took another another slash at the ponies. This time a unknown force pushed the ponies back. They all started to get pushed into the Rift. All the ponies screamed in horror trying to resist being pushed into the Rift. The figure then raised his sword again and then chuckled under his breathe “Enjoy.” he said. With that one last slash, the ponies were all blown into the Rift.
