Hmm, I saw something like that in a film the other day; it was incredibly violent, but I couldn't stop laughing at it. Don't remember what it was though...
One of the goriest films ever made is Dead Alive / Brain Dead by Peter Jackson, filmed in NZ, and is very funny
Hmm, I'll have to check it out. I've seen funny gory films before, Tucker and Dale vs Evil's probably my favourite, but what it was I watched really wasn't meant to be funny, I just found something about it hilarious. Which was a little scary. Terrifying even. Hilariously terrifying.
Yeah, I like films like that too. If a film's gonna take itself seriously, it better be REALLY good. Like Apocalypse Now, or Blade Runner, otherwise it should just be entertaining.
I don't like simple action films that take itself too seriously. If it's to be serious I like to have a large amount of thought in terms of themes, symbolism, and all that. I like films that make you think or are arty, or just make you go "Woah." Like Donnie Darko or any Kubrick film.
Exactly. Die Hard for fun, 2001: A Space Odyssey when you want to think. Have you seen Blue Ruin or The Guest? I thought those were some of the best films I've seen recently. I thought the later had a feel of Donnie Darko about it. Oh, and Nightcrawler was good too. Jake Gyllenhaal can sure play some odd characters.
