First of all if this thread has already been posted then by all means delete it. Anyway, what would you say your favourite video game series is that you've played. This means that it should be a series where the majority of the games were good. It may not be the series which had your favourite game of all time but one which has constantly given good games. I have to say that mine would have to be the Legend of Zelda because all their games were pretty good (apart from the CD-I ones) especially the Ocarina of Time. Close behind it would be the Mario series with games like Super Mario World and the Mario Karts. If I hadf answered this a few years ago I would've said Pokemon as the originals were amazing (Pokemon Yellow FTW) but I don't find the new games as enjoyable. Anyway enough about me, what's your favourite video game series?
Pah. CoD was never really that fun and the more recent titles have slipped into a quality only describable as shovelware. When will we stop praising competence as if it were brilliance? For me the winners are Halo and Battlefield; both consistently brilliant, with not a step back in either franchise. I don't think Bungie or DICE have ever made a game that wasnt pushing the boundaries of awesome to a whole new level.
Easily Halo, They haven't failed with a single game, plus the plot is full of Awesome. I know Battlefield 3 is Awesome, I don't know about the other in the series though. But that DICE is Awesome is no surprise though, they are Swedish after all!
I have to say I loved Halo but I only really liked the Modern Warfares in the CoD series. I didn't like World at War and Black Ops too much.
My favorite video game series is Legend of Zelda, and my favorite game in the series is Link to Past.
If COD3 - onwards were as good as the first 3 (CoD,CoD:UO,CoD2) then I'd have to say Call of Duty, but I can't, the latest ones are just offensive to your eyes and mind. On the other hand it's quite the opposite with Battlefield, I love the latest ones (minus BC) such as 2142, BF2 and BF3 but I hate 1942 and Vietnam. At the moment Dawn of War is topping my list.
Final Fantasy is my all time favourite, though recently that franchise has gone down hill --by recently I mean "since 7." What... that's not recent? XD 9 was a good one, but other that none have exactly captured me. 8 I hated and 10 and 13 I barely touched. :/ IV and VI, though? EPIC. <3 My favourite modern series is Gears of War. I just love the story and the characters. They nailed the multiplayer this time around, too. Good stuff.
Does Microsoft's Visual Studio count as a game series? That, Otherwise... Halo used to be fun, but I own too many, and it's grown old... Blizzard's games have grown old as well... Probably the Baldur's Gate series. Perhaps some of the best games ever made game play wise. Graphics were rather good for their times as well.
Command and Conquer bottled it on "Tiberian Twilight" with the mobile no-base concept, as such it does not top my ranking. Battlefield on the other hand has been quite the experience, since 1942 With Desert Combat and Galactic Conquest, Onto Battlefield 2 with Project Reality, Sandbox, Omnicide and Forgotten hope 2. And having just got Battlefield 3, despite the lack of modding tools, well... There is one last contender, that is the Tribes Universe, Starsiege tribes was a masterpiece, introducing new dimensions of play such as asset construction, vehicles on large size maps (land and air) and who can forget the JETPACKS? Everyone got a jetpack regardless of their class of play, Tribes 2 strengthened my enjoyment, with its all new construction mods that I spent quite literally hours in.
The Legend of Zelda series was always one of my all-time favorites. -- Sent from my Vortex using Tapatalk
