seems funny that your avatar is fluttershy, and your being pushed to the edge, reminds me of episode 26
Thats just terrible... I hope you're okay, and not too shocked anymore. *glompsch* and *hugsch* It almost seems like the forces of love and the forces of hate are growing at equal speed in todays world. Wars break out and intolerance is high, but also more and more people open their eyes and see we're supposed to live together in this world. I'm very curious how the human race will develop in the years to come, but I'm convinced love will ultimately defeat hate in the end. That said, I think we should just wait and see how this situation develops. If it really is a group of trolls who's behind this, I'm personnally not mad at them, I just pity them... The brony-community won't die, we're too far rooted in the love and tolerance for that to be possible. The community just won't grow at equal speed anymore, until a new way is found to get easy access to episodes.
Oh my god, after all the positivity about my fellow man I gained in the last month, this just set it back. I just ordered a Fluttershy shirt (pink and yellow) and I planed to wear it in public, if that can happen to you, well. I may have to start carrying a weapon. I dunno. I hope my country is more tolerant, I think it is. Stupid people have always been my worst enemy. I hope you are okay and if that happened to me I would probably be scared to wear a MLP shirt ever again. You should start a thread about that Sonic, I'm sure everyone would have a lot to say.
that sounds terrible. still I'd bet that those guys didn't have a clue what mlp:fim was at all, they just probably saw rainbow colors on your t-shirt. I hope you're all right. but still, don't let couple of pickle brains to get you down. *hugs*
I think i am relatively safe since there is an openly gay guy in my class, and no one cares. So even if people thought my Fluttershy shirt meant I was gay that's as far as their assumptions would go and they wouldn't care. Still whenever I hear stories like this it makes my heart cry. This is why over the top masculinity it a bad thing. Those gorillas can go and eat each others bananas.
I agree! I could give up right now, say "I've had it with ponies! It's just not worth it!". And I certainly am not going down the road of theft!
omg,and not in the nice way,why is it when people ee someone else that they dislike something abiut they just decide to beat on them, coming fom someone whos been beaten up alot in the last 3 years, and i mean ALOT,that sounds horrible
well I am an in debt student who has a very limited budget, so yes for me it's either free ponies or no ponies and as I've mentioned before PMVs had been my main creative inspiration lately. So no PMVs means let's see why Spongebob is so constantly compared to MLPFiM. Maybe I can make SMVs about that. I'm dead serious Hasbro, I was always brony for life and *squee!*, but if you pull the copyright card on us then I'll find something else to obsess over, it may never again be as awesome as ponies, but at least they won't shut down my hard work and make it wasted time. I was even about to do an assignment at school about My Little Pony history, looks like it will end with, and then they gave their fans the finger and the second season was the last we ever saw of them. This is all whiiiiiiining, provided the assumption that Hasbro is responsible for the take downs is true. But I am still hopeful it's a stupid troll that will hopefully be jailed and fined for trying to ruin love and tolerance for everypony.
If Hasbro were behind the removal of videos, I don't think they would have waited for someone to comment on their Facebook page so they could reply to it and then mention something. I think they would have made an announcment or something. As I said, Hasbro benefit from the episodes being on YouTube. How many hundreds of thousands of people discovered it on YouTube? Above that, how many people have these uploads as their only source of My Little Pony? I remember seeing on MenloMarseilles' account, he clearly stated on both his videos and account, that he was more than willing to cooperate with any lawyers with a problem. I can even remember he used the words 'if I'm stepping on any toes here'. Considering his channel was the most dominant one, with hundreds of thousadns of views on each episode he uploaded, all Hasbro would of had to do was send him a message about how they don't like it, and he would have removed them himself. Yet even he states on his channel he is suspicious of the ways in which his videos were removed. Hasbro may have absolutely cocked up the Celestia toy, but that's as far as things go. They are a nice company, nothing like those copyright Nazi's disney. They do care about their fanbase, so I would expect them to actually be on our side for this. I mean, as much as I love having the episodes there on YouTube, it doesn't really compare to having the official DVD release, does it? Hasbro know this, bronies know this, everyone knows this. The only ones who wouldn't buy the DVD are those who can't afford it, which is more than understandable, and Hasbro wouldn't lose any sales if the only people watching for free can't add to their profit anyway. Just my thoughts and opinions.
No, I think this is definitely not included in the "love and tolerate" category. This is seriously messed up. It's bad enough that some are verbally hating on us, but now we have morons that are physically attacking bronies? What the hell is this world coming to? I certainly hope that they're going to be prosecuted for their actions and pay for any medical damages you have incurred. They certainly should not be allowed to get away with that, no matter what the reason behind it is. I don't know how that kind of thing works in Brazil, but I know if that happened here, I'd have them charged with assault and seek medical and perhaps even punitive compensation, and this is coming from a guy that normally would never try to take anyone to court. I certainly hope you're feeling better now.
Things is this seems entirely based on anti-gay attitudes, here in Australia homosexuals are tolerated. I think this is based on Brazil's still being backwards in terms of human rights. Or maybe it was a few bad apples. I'm sure if I were to walk into some areas with my fluttershy shirt I too should be worried about my safety. It tends to be the older people from the last generation that are intolerant. But people from our generation tend to be embracing this no more racism, no more sexism idea. At least that's how it is in my university. A gay guy is part of my main circle of friends, and I have never heard even a single discriminatory word against him. It might be because we are all over 18. In high school I bet bullies are still beating up gay people.
There's plenty of other channels where you can watch them. Just have to look through them a bit. But isn't the work worth it?
Same where I am. From what I've seen, it's a very tolerant and open-minded community, especially the university population. Although, if I lived in a city that had a bad neighborhood I could definitely understand the potential risk of walking around with a MLP:FiM shirt. As far as I'm aware, it's only dangerous to walk around downtown after midnight because then one has a higher chance of encountering someone that's drunk and is incapable of rational thought (It's a college town and a lot of the students party and get wasted). I'm glad I don't live in that part of town.
what he said. I'm also 99.99% sure that if he had brony t-shirt that didn't have rainbow colors or anything girly on it that he wouldn't have trouble at all. for example if he had ... idk.. spike t-shirt, or that WHO? Owlowisus t-shirt, that there wouldn't be any problems. furthermore, if he had that t-shirt and was with his girlfriend, I'm also sure that he wouldn't have problems. I think that they wouldn't attack someone for being brony, but for being gay yes. as most people when they see rainbow t-shirt they automatically assume that you're gay. In real world, bronies aren't that big that they would be attacked. I think we should that we need special topic for this.
I just want to make something perfectly clear. I know what I said implied he was attacked just because he was a brony. Although it is true that some close-minded people don't think 'brony' and 'gay' are unrelated. So, yes, that more likely than not, if not definitely, was because of the Rainbow Dash shirt and those idiots assuming he was gay because of the rainbow colors and the action was based more on an anti-gay attitude. As Yeti said, and I'm definitely fully aware of, bronydom is not nearly as well-known. Bronydom, especially outside the realm of the Internet, is probably still esoteric. I fully understand this. I just didn't word my post in such a way to reflect that. Sorry for any confusion. I should've mentioned that in my original post.
Violence makes violence! I'd kick 'is teeth in if it were me!! Course, not that I'm capable of such a thing..
I suck with words, so here's hoping I don't mess this up. o_o Gay, Straight, Black, White, Brony or otherwise. It doesn't matter what sexuality, race, gender, fashion-choice, lifestyle choice or beliefs people have, the way you were treated was ALL KINDS OF WRONG. I know the Brony way has always been, and always will be to love and tolerate, but if it's gonna put you or your friends in danger, you need to rethink your strategy. Now, in no way should you have to hide your Brony roots or love of MLP, but it's perfectly acceptable given the situation you found yourself in to DESPISE those who attacked you. Heck, I would. I'm sure most of the other members of this site would too, so would most of the Brony community as a whole. We've got your back. We support you all the way. We also care about your safety and your health too, so here's hoping you're not too bad, or if it is bad, here's praying for a speedy recovery. But guys, after seeing this, I need to say something. If you're in an area known for it's high numbers of homophobic attacks, or general attacks, you owe it to yourself to leave the clothing at home. It doesn't make you any less of a Brony, it just means you're being cautious, which is a vital part of the still broken world we live in. Also, if you MUST wear your MLP t-shirts, please at least wear a jacket or something to go over the top, just in case you find yourself in an awkward situation. It's wrong that people can't wear what they want, or be open about their sexuality when we're in 2011, but whilst the rest of the world haven't yet experienced the wisdom of My Little Pony - Friendship Is Magic, you can pretty much guarantee you'll have a friend right here.
